I remember an amazing Morrowind Quest mod to become a lich -

I remember a Morrowind mod that had a huge quest chain that let your character pursue becoming a lich.

I believe it was called "The Illuminated Order" - CJ Devito and LDod (???) made it?

Are either of you with us? Any chance of a Skyrim Illuminated Order?

I don't think they're around anymore but I could be wrong.

There was a topic a little while ago about some lich mod for Skyrim.
It was still WIP but inspired by the Morrowind ones, I think.

Do a search for it, maybe you find it.

That was an awesome quest mod, one of the best for Morrowind even today. It's also about 9 years old.

I don't think they're still around.

LDones had a personal site at hiredgoons.net (also hosting a version of Wakim's Game Improvements, iirc), which appears to be defunct now, so they've most probably left.

There were two mods that allowed you to become a lich, Lichcraft being one, Illuminated Order being the other. IO was the one that had a faction questline tied into it and the actual becoming a Lich thing was an optional thing at the end, whereas IIRC Lichcraft was more straightforward a 'quest to become a Lich' mod, where being a Lich was the main point of the mod.

Illuminated Order was spectacular. Such a well designed, written and thought out mod. It had tons of atmosphere and was a lot of fun. While I'm sure it would be possible to recreate something similar for Skyrm, I really believe it would be almost impossible to capture the vibe and feel that that mod had.

I can't believe it's been nine years since I played it.

Illuminated Order "spawned" Lichcraft, i.e. Lichcraft used IO's lich scripts/assets as a base (with permission and all iirc).

Neither of the people who contributed to IO are still around; they both left the community before even Oblivion was released, as far as I know.

Indeed. It was definitely one of the more memorable experience I had in video gaming, and it would be really hard to replicate that. Perhaps even for the original creators.

I'm not exactly a professional scenario writer or anything either, so the chances of me doing so aren't exactly very high. Won't stop me from trying though! If I had to put it in words, I'd have to say I'm trying to create an "inbetween" or weird mix between Lichcraft and IO. I want the quest to be memorable, and will put forth an effort to making it so, but it probably won't be as long or as "deep" as IO was. However I found the Lich experience as a whole to be more "enjoyable" in Lichcraft. It was a little buggy and perhaps over the top in some ways, but it was really fun, and I want to recreate that experience as well.

I've been working mostly on the Liches themselves up till this point, as scripting is my more notable skill. Once I finish up at least the "outline" for all the Liches (coding wise) I'll really start to buckle down on the quest stuff. My thread so far has been primarily focused on the Liches (since that's what I actually have information on) but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions quest-wise feel free to drop by the thread and leave a comment!

Sadly correct. In fact, the second version of Lichcraft still displayed code readout info (as I recall; it's been a while I since I played it) on the screen in default mode. It was never quite finished before he left.

Yeah I remember that. I found it super annoying too. I actually tried to fix it myself now that I recall, but I lost motivation rather quickly. I wasn't even sure it was Lichcraft that was causing it. Just "some new mod" that I installed. (Which was around 20 at the time.)
I really didn't like the "follower" stuff either to be honest. It felt sort of tacked on and pointless. It was a cool concept but I just didn't like the way it was implemented.
