Remember Redoran
One distressed and disillusioned survivor's account of the horrors that destroyed Ald'Ruhn, the council seat of House Redoran.
Flame, sheer furious flame, blazed from every house. Many had evacuated, but the strongest of us held back to cover their retreat. The Emperor Crab had fallen, the great magicks that gave it life finally overcome by the innumerable hordes. It was obvious what the end result would be.
DUTY, they told us. Duty to one's family and clan. What is the use of loyalty when man, woman and child fall as do rocks from the sulforous mouth of the mountain? Each brave soul that rushes to defend another falls victim to a worser fate.
Bodies lay broken all around, the victims of fiery swords and cruel flails from relentless and invincible enemies. Vile daedric beasts tear the dead to peaces with a ravenous hunger. Great warriors deserve more dignity in death.
GRAVITY. Is this the virtue of gravity prized by our kin? What hope can mortals have against such all consuming hate? They have won! Vivec protect us! The House of Troubles is victorious!
Prayers are muffled in flame, the desperate pleas choked as wicked barb punctures throat. Where are the Thrice Blessed? Vehk! Ayem! Seht! Where are you in our hour of need? Is this how you repay our loyalty? Nerevar Reborn, bane of Dagoth Ur! We called your name, but the chosen one came not to our aid.
PIETY, they preached. Faith is for fools. Priests fell as bloodily as the rest.
In the darkest hour the city's forces pooled their strength and launched a valiant attack on the Great Gate. Alliances were made in time of need. Redoran guards, Fighters' Guild mercenaries, wizards of the Mages' Guild, and the Morag Tong Grandmaster, with a band of shadows at his dark back.
Hope came at last. The gate crumbled and it's raging heat was cleansed. The surviving heroes stood amidst the ash, bloodied and weary with glowing sigil in hand, but the daedric siege was complete. Too much evil had already escaped from the hellish wastes of the Deadlands.
HOUSE REDORAN IS NO MORE
