Removing Dead Bodies, Ash and Goo Piles

Post » Mon Jan 10, 2011 12:43 pm

I made My way to Freeside and now I am being attcked by Freeside Thugs. The thing is after I kill them, thier bodies are not being removed by the game. I know the game is supposed to remove them after 72 game hours or so, but it's not happening. New thugs are being respawned, but New vegas has not yet removed the bodies of the old thugs I killed long ago and now the new bodies are piling up. (in Freeside Alone I have a totoal of 16 Freeside bodies laying around in regular, ash and goo form) I don't want to use the console to remove them since I have a hunch since using the console might make things worse (but will use it if it is a last resort.) Is there any way I can get the game to remove these bodies?

It appears that there is no mod that removes them after they have been gooified on the New Vegas nexus, however there is one on the FO3 Nexus. Assuming that you are somewhat capable working with FNV Edit, it should be fairly easy to port it over... at least for your own personal use. I wouldn't release anything without permission from the author first though. It's something to think about though.

FYI: there does appear to be a mod that prevents people/ creatures from being gooified in the first place.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36128

I just threw together a quick mod this morning based on the vanishing ash and goo piles mod by OverLord of Chaos. Its nexus page is http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37573.

I have noticed that the dead bodies do not always get removed if there is still inventory on them. Removing the inventory, solves this issue (at least for me). However, I should not have to spend time removing dead NPC inventory, just so the bodies will disappear....

Iirc (based on previous games on the same game engine) bodies do disappear after 72 game hours, but only if you don't enter that cell during that time. If you're anything like me you go through Freeside regularly, so the cell never gets a chance to reset. My Freeside resembles a mass grave with bodies and piles of green goo thanks to Arcade.

Wouldn't removing the ash piles cause issues for Cass' personal quests?

It shouldn't since those ash piles use a different base object than the regular ash piles.

Thanks to all who posted. I was able to clear the Dead bodies and ash and goo piles by staying out of the Cell for 72 hours like Epona222 said, but as soon as I returned, I was attacked six times so now I'm back a sqaure one >_< But I did find a temporary fix by carrying the dead bodies and stuffing them into the open garbage bins littered around Freeside.
