(REQ) Your Own Faction

Don't you ever wonder what it would be like to rule like the might Caesar? Wish you were in control of hundreds of NCR Troopers? Want to be the King of The Kings!?

Well with mods that may very well be possible but, what if we could do better than that? What if there was a way to create your own faction?

Just imagine walking through The Mojave Wasteland recruiting Wastelanders to join your cause. You could be a casual faction consisting of 3 or 4 Goodsprings Locals or an army of battle hardened soldiers with your own factions base, armour, and weapons.

Anyways enough with the sales pitch. Basically the idea is that at the beginning of the game once you leave Doc Mitchell's house a quest activates called something like "The New Guys In Town." (Ideas for names?) The first objective could be something like "Find a location to command your faction from." (Possibly an area just outside of Goodsprings?) When you get there a speech box would pop up asking what you want your faction to be called. Next you would have to go around recruiting Waselanders similar to how you recruit Companions. Basically it would be a bunch of Companions with the standard companion wheel allowing you to give them all matching armour and weapons. (There could even be an item you could use to command all of your members at once.)

I've seen the amazing work some of the modders here can do and I'm sure somebody could make this work.

TL;DR

A request for someone to create a mod allowing us to create our own factions.

sounds possible. the command options would be similar to FO3 Operation Anchorage's.

maybe instead of equipping individual soldiers, you could put everything into certain containers (labeled like helmet, torso, weapon) and tell them to go grab something.

of course I couldn't do it, but it has potential.

Sounds like a mix of real time settler with enclave commander. Which wouldn't be a bad combination :P

From fallout 3(enclave commander) I seem to recall the ability to call in troops, and based on your selection they could be dressed as a different faction. The mod also gave you fairly decent control over your troops. There is a port of it for new Vegas, but I haven't tried it yet :-)

From real time settler(I believe that was the mod) it gave you the ability to recruit various wastelanders and populate a new town. Or another mod, sharing and caring companions(again from fallout 3), gave you the ability to recruit anyone you wanted.

Anyhow point is if you tweak those mods you can pretty much get what you are looking for. About the only thing it wouldn't do is allow you to name your faction in game. However, just open up the geck and rename your troopers to whatever you want.

*shrugs* Just a thought, anyhow sorry about the fallout 3 mod references, I have been waiting on the next patch before starting my next play-through, so I am not up to date with new vegas mods.

Well, for one, the main character already has his/her own faction, Player Faction. As for recruiting multiple companions, there's already a mod for it (Phalanx), which I believe lets you have all companions at the same time. That in itself makes for a very over-powered squad.
