Request: Give us a way to turn clothing into armor.

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 8:22 am

The topic title basically says it all. It would be really nice to turn normal clothing items into combat wearables somehow. (An increase to their DR.)

Maybe an NPC tailor to pad them with kevlar, or maybe a perk that gives bonuses to bat[censored]-crazy characters wearing dress clothes to a gunfight.

It would be really nice if all the outfits in the game could see more player-use. =)

Maybe like the cowboy perk? A boost when wearing business suits and with pistols like maria and the lazer RCW.

Why though? It defeats the name 'PRE-WAR Park stroller Outfit'. It's not meant to be some combat swat team uniform. It was a Pre-War leisuring strollers outfit. It's fortunate enough to have survived the war.

I would like to give benny's suit some DR...

Maybe a bullet-proof vest that can go under clothing?

Pre-war does mean it was clothing from before the war. That's not to say it can't be worn into combat or repurposed into fashionable armor.

This would work too, if care were taken that it couldn't be worn under other armor.

Also, let's remember that it doesn't have to make 100% sense--this is a game that allows us to swim in steel armor. I just want to kill legionnaires in businesswear (with some DR/bonuses on par with at least light armor).

There are armored Vault jumpsuits in these games, and someone had to make those, so I could see something being done at a work bench. It should be a perk you can choose when you level up. Maybe it could be like this:

Wasteland Tailor:

LVL 10, Sneak 30, INT 7

Not content to buy "off the rack", you are now able to modify clothing. Your deceptively simply looking Grimy Pre-War Business Wear is now a suit of light armor!

LEVEL 50 SCIENCE 100 REPAIR 100
you have just upgraded your Enclave power armour into a MECH WARRIOR.

I just wish I could equip the followers with whatever we wanted and have them actually wear it, regardless of DT/DR...

Wow am I the only one that wears Pre-war casual wear. I like the look and the bonus +1 Agility. It does have a DT of 2 I think though. Also it looks cool with Authority Glasses and Combat Helmet or First Recon Beret.

Well they did the shiny armour perk so maybe something might come out for the normal clothing.
