So I heard the soft level cap was at level 50 and the hard one at around 70, which means that you can get to level 70 but spend only 50 perk points. Is this correct? If so, please raise the soft level cap to 70 and the hard cap to 100. I appreciate how it was already increased altogether compared to Oblivion and Fallout 3, but I can clearly see me being maxed out when I'll still be having one helluvalot of content to explore.
I figure the reasons for a cap being necessary, breaking it down to mainly
A ) Prevent you from becoming too strong
B ) Reserve a good portion of perks to be experienced during another playthrough
Well, A is negligible. Too easy? Raise the difficulty. And since there is no multiplayer of any kind, no one cares if you're a bit overpowered. Like no one would care if you lowered difficulty to absolute beginner either.
B has a valid point, but how many perks are there again? 280? Then 70 still makes for a nice clean cut of 25% of them to be experienced in one run, leaving 75% for 3 totally different playthroughs. Enough, if you ask me, while on the other hand stretching the enjoyment for each playthrough over so many additional hours. Leveling is part of the fun after all, being able to spend perk points feels like christmas every time you gain a level. Why put a limit to this too early by maxing out rather quickly?
As for the hard level cap, 100 is just a nice number to come by, a great achievement if you will. Like skills can be increased to 100 as well, so why not the player level too? However, I for one will be mildly depressed when I'll reach the max level and have nothing more to do other than exploring. Yes, exploring is awesome, but so is leveling. You guys advertized the game to be practically playable until forever with your infinite quests, yet you restrict us too heavily when it comes to character progress, in my opinion anyway.
Whew, feels good to have this off my chest. :]
