Requesting clarification from Bethesda

An interesting post was made on the NeoGAF forum recently.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=61569025&postcount=155

It includes a number of scintillating details about Bethesda/Zenimax and their publishing deals with various companies, including Arkane Studios. It also has strong allegations that demonstrate either Zenimax purposely broke contract with developers knowing full well the devs could not afford legal action against them, and/or that Zenimax specifically denied milestones, and thus payments, in order to then provide "loans" to developers for which they would then be fully indebted - effectively denying them promised payments and then becoming money lenders, even though they always intended to eventually release the game in the first place and the lack of progress made was a direct result of the developers being forced to make changes to the project in order to stay afloat to begin with. These loans then go on to ensure that the talent at developers remains captive to Bethesda's whims.

Now, I'm not saying that these accounts present illegal behavior by Zenimax or that these stories offer the full details of the arrangements - though personally I do feel that they reflect negatively on Zenimax as a company. But if possible, could we please have an official statement from a Zenimax representative which provides us full account of the situations discussed? Doing so would certainly clear the waters and help regain trust in the brand which has been diminished by these allegations.

If no response is given, I will take it as an affirmation of the allegations' truths and my faith in this publisher will be greatly damaged to the point where I will be extremely reluctant to ever make another purchase, and may even go to lengths to tell others to refuse all future purchases involving the Zenimax, since it would not be morally upstanding to do business with such an organization.

Seeing as they ignored the thread about Prey 2 (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1461617-rumor-arkane-austin-forced-to-reboot-prey-2/), it's highly unlikely you'll get a response. But keep asking, even if they refuse to reveal any information they'll take note of the commotion. We won't know which rumours are true until gamesas officially announces Prey 2's fate, so we need to wait. I wonder if they'll say something at E3?

Zenimax Media legal matters are a restricted topic on these forums.

Sure, the legalese is restricted (how convenient). But regardless of the specifics involved it would be wise for Zenimax to issue a public response to diffuse the accusations. Certainly a corporation should be liable to its millions of customers and fans, and should exercise a degree of public responsibility.
