Requirements to get the patches for XBox

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:24 pm

Hi,

I bought this game for Xbox 360. I used to buy everything on PC, but I was afraid mine wouldn't cut Skyrim. Now I'm kind of in doubt how to patch the game. I never used Xbox Live, nor have I ever setup an internet connection for my Xbox since I figured it was only necessary for live.

I really want to get the Skyrim patches though, so I was wondering if just connecting my Xbox to internet is sufficient to get them, or if I need an Xbox Live subscription, and maybe other things as well to get them.

Who can enlighten me? :)

P.S.: Sorry if this has been asked a ton of times, I haven't run into any topics on this myself yet.

You just need an internet connection. Xbox Live gold is not needed.

You will have to make an XBL account which is simple to do and just keep it silver (free) which will still grant you access to patches and the marketplace for DLC if you wanted to buy any for Skyrim when it eventually come's out.

I assume your xbox was bought by yourself brand new yes? and obviously from your post you have not connected to live previously so you should get 3x 1 month free gold trial's.

Once your account is set up just start up Skyrim whilst signed into XBL and you should be prompted to update. After acceptance, the console will go ahead and download the update for you and relaunch the game automatically.

Only real use XBL gold has is multiplayer, netflix, facebook, etc and some times they have worthy discounts on marketplace content. Silver(free membership) gives you access to friends lists, allows you to buy marketplace content and everything else. IMO it is totally worth it to stay connected during all game play sessions.
