[WIPz] Hi-Res Recon Armor

Post » Thu Sep 03, 2009 5:30 am

Well, I'm getting ready to release my new Hi-Res Recon Armor re-texture, but I want to know what you all think what suggestions you have etc. Are are some screenshots...

I'm going to get the helmet to match the suit's color as it is slightly off. Do you think the skin suit area should be darker? What do you all think? Any suggestions?

I don't think it needs to be darker (personally, we have enough black recon retextures)

I personally love the olive military look (at least, it looks olive)

Thanks. I'm thinking about adding a BoS Variant, this would have some dark sky blue stiching/components and a dark sky blue BoS Emblem on the chestpeice on the left briast. Do you think the metal parts need to be any less beat up etc.?

It would be cool if it was more armored...

I personally think that since it's supposed to be flexible and for stealth the less armor the better :) Come on MORE suggestions people! What do you think should be changed? Anything added? What do you think about the appearance of the metal? Should it be less beat up?

Do you like it? Do you not like it? If so why? I need more suggestions.

But that would defeat the purpose of making a recon armor, they are made for quick movement, maximum mobility, and those don't go hand in pants with more armored.
Reconnaissance is about not being seen, but seeing everything important. You aren't going to get into a fight if you are doing your job right, now are you?

Exactly why parts of the armor are no longer armored :) There is still some armor but this suit has been made for flexibility.

In any case, I like the texture, it looks rather nice, and not over the top(though the mesh part could do with being a bit lighter colored).

I think for the Outcast one the dark green/orange parts on the metal should have a red/black scheme

I added the dark blue lining and I'm liking it :) What dark green/orange metal are you referring? Are you looking at the image of the Outcast variant?

The "recon" armor isn't really for stealth though. Lore-wise, it's what is worn under power armor. All those weird couplings on the armor are so it can hook up properly.

Though I agree, it doesn't need more armor. I just don't want it getting into "Chinese stealth armor" territory

No, it will still have some armor plating, but for under armor it can't be all metal like it was previously. That would make fitting into it AND PA very hard. Also, when your character runs/moves etc. The metal blends and stretches. This should not happen, so I turned those parts into a rubber/diving kind of texture.

I'd suggest making the stealth aspect need a decent science skill, but it needs to be less stealth then 15%, since that's what the Stealth Suit gives(I think). Maybe it should have a scaling amount of stealth on sneak(more science, more active camo), and toggle driven instead of always on sneak.

Are you referring to the Recon Armor in my TUPAM mod?

I think that the blue needs to be a little lighter, and more of a gray colour.

Is it just me, or do you quote me when responding to anyone else in this thread?
Just a minor confusion effect.

Oh. Right, wrong thread again. Stupid Drag0nTamer and having more then one thread.

So, yes, that was supposed to go in TUPAM. But, as I have proven again, I can't read when I'm thinking.

I actually made the BoS version I had in mind into just the normal one. However I can still make one that is specific to the BoS by adding the emblem and a few other variants.
