Resetting my controls

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:48 pm

Is there a console command to reset all of the keyboard controls to default? My 3 year old decided to mess with Skyrim in my absence and all the controls are fubar'd. I could not find an option to return the controls to default under any menu.

Take a second look in the options screen. There is a button to restore default key bindings. If you aren't sure what else might have been messed with, you could always delete the .ini files.

Deleting INI files will not reset the controls. At least, when I removed the INI files and did load a saved game, my key bindings did stay the way they were.

So where are the key bindings stored? Whatever the case, there is still a reset to defaults button in the options screen, right?

The Steam cloud syncs your .ini file, I believe. So whenever you delete it the cloud will redownload the same file back.

Maybe when you have that cloud active. I don't know, I don't use that S(hi)team cloud thing :P

I'm certain there is a default option in the menu. It changes every option to default including subtitle options etc.

If not, key bindings are stored in a file names interface something, somewhere in the skyrim folder or subfolders. I'd cut it to desktop just incase you need it, and the game should make a new one.

If all else fails you can always do it manually: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Controls
