Are there plans for a retail disc of Dawnguard? I like hard copies of things.

yeah, I just think everything is going digital now, it helps these companies cut production costs, plus Dawnguard isn't really big enough to require a disc, something more expansive like the Shivering Isles may come with a disc release though

Which is absolutely terrible. I don't want to buy it digitally and not even be able to play it once Xbox Live shuts down.

I wish there was a retail too. I got it for free from the beta, but I would go and buy a back up disk if I could. i hate digital distribution.

Can't see them releasing a retail disc just for Dawnguard.. those who want the DLC on a retail disc are just going to have to wait for a 'Skyrim Complete Edition' whenever they decide to release that.. svcks I know but that the nature of the business now, digital downloads.

I have the worst luck that every Bethesda dlc i buy digitally messes up my game. The GOTY of Fallout 3 worked though. And Oblivion had retail discs. This really makes no sense.

It's because everything in the technical world is shifting towars digital, thats why you see the huge decrease in CD's, DVD's and now they are making computers without optical drives! (cough cough sixy new macbook pro cough cough)

Probably a year after the new consoles come out. Which isn't far off, and i down want my save files to [censored] up because there isn't a hard copy of Dawnguard.

that doesn't make any sense....the new consoles are still going to be Xbox's, so why in the world would they get rid of the Marketplace? plus thatd probably be illegal because in that case they'd be deleting something that you'd pay for, so I'm sure they'd have to provide a way for people to download there stuff if that were the case

When the 360 was released the marketplace for the original one shut down soon after. It will probably remain the same with the new xbox. Rendering all non disc dlc. Useless. And it is something we payed for but Microsoft owns it. We are just leasing it.

Was there DLC for the original Xbox anyways? and I don't think thats true, its definitley labeled as a "purchase" and not a lease, but maybe there is some small print that I'm sure I didn't read that says otherwise, but I'd be surprised if you actually knew

I don't think XBox live will shut down anytime soon. I'm not exactly sure what your concern is. I agree I would rather have a hard copy myself but worrying about not being able to play it because XBox Live will be shut down is not a concern.

But you can buy originial XBox games for the 360 right now. Not all of them, but some I thought. The jump from the originial XBox to the 360 was a HUGE jump. I don't see that happening with the new XBox.

I'm sure when the new XBox comes out you will still be able to use the 360 with Live, especially since there are many more 360's than there were original XBoxes.

I played Oblivion up until Skyrim. And i'll play Skyrim up until TES VI and that will be on the next gens after Live shuts down.

^ yeah plus even if XBL did shut down, you will probably have played your heart out in Dawnguard anyways, and plus if you're smart you just won't delete it off of your hard drive, or do a little hacking and put it on an external hard drive somewhere else which im sure isn't that hard to do

This really applies to all the dlc. I'll need to switch HDD's soon and my dlc's never survive that. And i'm sure the day xbox live shuts down my dlc will have a problem.

I edited my original post but I'll say it again. I don't think it will shut down. There are many more 360's than Originals. To shut down live for the 360's would be disastorous for Microsoft. Not reason for the 360's not to run live when the new XBox comes out.

I just don't see it happening.

You can buy the original Xbox games but no dlc.

I still don't think it will be a concern, not with as many people who have an XBox 360 compare to those who had the original.

In any case, I see another "Game of the Year" edition or something by the end of this year that will have the DLC on it. They did it with Oblivion, I see them doing it with Skyrim as well.

It'll probably take longer then that.

I don't think that there actually was a marketplace for the original xbox was there? and even if there was, I'm sure most of, if not all the content was moved to the new marketplace, itd be illegal for Microsoft to just off the marketplace and not make downloaded DLC still available to those who paid for it, WHICH IS JUST ABOUT EVERYONE WHO OWNS AN XBOX....

A quote from Wikipedia On November 15, 2002, Microsoft launched its Xbox Live online gaming service, allowing subscribers to play online Xbox games with other subscribers around the world and download new content directly to the system's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_drive. The online service works only with a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadband Internet connection. Approximately 250,000 subscribers signed up within two months of Xbox Live's launch.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-23 In July 2004, Microsoft announced that Xbox Live had reached one million subscribers; in July 2005, membership reached two million, and by July 2007 there were more than 3 million subscribers. By May 2009, the number had ballooned to 20 million current subscribers.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-24 On February 5, 2010, Marc Whitten posted on gamerscoreblog that Xbox Live support for the original Xbox games would be discontinued as of April 14, 2010.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-gamerscoreblog1-3 Services were discontinued on schedule, but a group of 20 gamers continued to play for almost a month afterwards by simply leaving their consoles on connected to Halo 2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-25 APACHE N4SIR was the final user to play on the original Xbox's Live Service and was finally disconnected on May 11, 2010 at 01:58 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Time_Zone (UTC-4).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-26http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#cite_note-27

Okay, that says there was an XBOX LIVE service, not a marketplace. I'm pretty sure the new content you could download there was just games, not add-ons, making them much more likely to get rid of it since it takes up server space.....and like i said in my previous post, they probably transfered most of that content to the new marketplace anyways
