Riding in a carriage causes follower to disappear?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:12 am

I took a carriage from Riften to Whiterun thinking my long-time follower, the trusty Uthgerd, would ride along with me. Not the case... she didn't make the trip. I figured, okay, she'll catch up eventually. Also not the case. I've accomplished enough in the meantime that I'm not interested in reloading a save... and I've tried all the "fixes" I know of (fast-traveling, returning to Uthgerd's typical hangout spot, returning to the Riften carriage, standing in the field and 'waiting' for 24 hours...) and Uthgerd seems simply to have slipped through to Oblivion.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to not lose my Uthie... thanks ^^;

In my over 21 times of using the carriage I have never lost a companion. Reloading seems to be the only way, if you are not on PC that is where you can use console commands to bring Uthgerd to you.

Thanks for the response :smile: From my first "playthrough", in which Uthgerd died in a battle with some Judiciors, I learned that she is programmed to appear in the battle for Whiterun (because her looted corpse just kinda showed up on the ground instead of remaining out by whatever dungeon it was she died in front of). I haven't done that battle yet, so I'll give that a shot. If it doesn't work, I'll have to tell myself the ebony armor I had just given her was cursed or something (same way in that first "playthrough" I had to tell myself after Lydia just kinda... ran away... that I had burdened her with loot worth more than her paycheck and she had a change of heart).

dissapering followers eh? slightyl off topic but i had similar problems wit jenesee ( mispelled but the darkelf in the drunken huntsman) , you see the two of us were making a logn trip to some dragon lair , and we came across a group of forsworn bandits, normally she emerges when things are getting hot but this time i had to fight them all off on my own, so after that i continued on my journey, well to cut a logn story short i got to the place, did everything oyu pretty much did and eventually i had to go it alone ( even though i had paid for her!) when i return to whiterun she isisnt there either, a few days later however i am told she got tired of waiting and left -WTF? you have to be very carefull with followers because they tend to just stand like dopes if you dont tell em to get their asse's moveing ^_^
