So Riften is Esgaroth...

I must say that Riften is very similar to http://alan-lee.narod.ru/Images/lee-hobbit_17.jpg, the town attacked by Smaug in The Hobbit.

Whats tha make Markarth?

I guess Markarth would be Erebor, with a spider called http://images.uesp.net/a/ab/SR-creature-Nimhe.jpg lurking deep within the city instead of the dragon.
