Right to own Products

With Adobe switching to that creative cloud setup, and the gaming industry having always online DRM, Micro-transactions in games, day 1 DLC, etc..., are we moving towards a point where perspective buyers are no longer allowed to own the stuff they buy? Will we reach a point where we don't even buy a car, but just pay non-stop car payments to the dealership, the same with our appliances?

It's on the conspiracy side of things lately, but I am wondering if we consumers have the right to own the products/materials that we purchase since the product makers are ramping up their efforts to bleed as much money from their consumers as possible.

Cars actually already have computers in them now, so we are possibly dangerously close to having cars with car microchips. Those computers are also the very reason I now refuse to learn to drive until I have to, but more because some people might want to get into the network of the cars and pull a lethal prank. I'll be driving an old clunker when I learn to drive if they are still possible to buy.

To an extent, just about everything that can be given a computer has a computer now.

I think the ownership of digital products has always been unclear. The EULA tells you that you are only licensing the product, but they have had no way to enforce that until now.

I don't think you can compare what's going on with software ownership to physical property like cars.
