Marshall Amps are just down the road from me, I'm eternally grateful to Jim for http://24.media.tumblr.com/9WkvTZ1M7lgj13h6ZUBiNqzYo1_500.jpg.

He's lived a great life, and it's a shame to hear of this. Very few amps stand up to Marshalls

Bummer; still he lived to a grand old age and certainly left his mark on the world (and countless eardrums!)

Yes that is a bummer. An early guitar mentor/friend of mine had a Marshall stack...I was so envious. They sound so good and so powerful.

http://www.ryansloan.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/MarshallStack2.jpg. To paraphrase Marshall's Wikipedia page, he was considered one of the early pioneers of rock equipment, along with Les Paul, Leo Fender and Seth Love. His amps were used by, among others, Hendrix, Clapton, Malmsteen, and The Who.
