Is Riverwood Important Later in the Game?

Riverwood is probably the best "little" town since it has a smith and a trader, but it's not necessary.

I've observed that any NPC related to a quest is immortal and so are skill trainers until you get to the max level they can train you (discovered that with Vilkas).

Yes. Rv trader is your best bet for trading.

she is currently "lost" in my game. As if I haven't contributed enough stupid info to this thread. She really is lost. She is not at her Inn, nor anywhere that I can find with 1 week waiting outside her place.
so I guess my big mouth will continue with the "where is Delphine thing" too freaking funny to me.

well this REALLY should be in the spoilers section. You need the Riverwood trader to advance into the main quest.

No you don't.
