Riverwood Questions

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 1:53 am

I was just wondering if it was possible too aquire a house in Riverwood? I have a feeling its not possible but might as well see.

And if not, I was planning on merrying Camilla or something, so I would get access to were she stays, but would the storage be safe? Or should I find somewhere else to put my things

Sadly, there is no house in Riverwood :( I would live there in a heartbeat.

As for living with Camilla, I'm pretty sure it considers it your "house" in the fact that you can safely store things in there

I want to use the mill 800 times and build a big 'ol log cabin. Using nothing but telekinesis.

And you thought Minecraft was time-consuming :{D~

Yes, have Faendal be your follower and take his key. I've been using his house since I arrived in Riverwood and after 192 hours my stash is still there. You can sleep and cook there, he doesn't mind. If he gets killed by a dragon the house is all yours.

Or if Boethaliah accepts his soul...

Smart thinking. I always wonder about the safe containers that are not in bought homes. Is there anyway to know which ones are safe? There are numerous remote places or homes in villages I'd like to settle in (after the original owners "mysteriously disappear") yet I never do because I'm afraid to lose my stash.

I keep all of my mining good and smithing items in the barrels closest the warmaiden's shop/forge. It's basically the first barrel you come to while passing thru Whiterun and I have never had anything taken from that barrel. I also own Breezhome but going in and out is a pain so I just moved all the smithing goods to the exterior barrel.

I'd be surprised if those barrels were safe. They probably reset after 30 days of your character not being in that cell. As long as you visit Whiterul regularly you should be fine, but if you spend more than 30 days outside Whiterun hold, you might be dissapointed when you return.

The UESP site has a page of known safe containers. Just google "UESP Skyrim containers" and you can find it. There is also a page on the UESP site with a purchaseable houses, and like others have said there is unfortunately no house available in Riverwood.

There are still other towns with jarls that don't have houses for the player...
and Riverwood belongs to Whiterun anyway.

no house in riverwood to live in? sure there is, you can live in faendals house, or the riverwood inn, using delhpines secret room or the stormcloak house, its got other people in it but its got a bed and chest to store stuff in. but faendals house is easy to get, he usually gets killed by a dragon anyway so once you have his key the house is yours.

Riverwood is probably the best non-house home.

-Awesome secret passage in the sleeping giant inn. Alchemy lab and arcane enchanter within feet of each other, and 2 chests for storage (the barrel isn't safe, confirmed by me). The chest upstairs from the secret room is also safe, and also only a few feet from the enchanter/lab.

-Sleeping giant inn bar keeper sells daedra hearts and other exotic alchemy ingredients.

-Blacksmith just a bit down the road.

-The store keeper in riverwood has a glitch where if you invest 500 gold into him, he has 10,750 gold as standard for his shop. Which means he's the best spot for selling off all your extra crap.

-Guards can be killed and no more will respawn in the area, unless you complete the civil war quest line where old guards are replaced by new ones. But they can also be killed off and you can eliminate any guard presence in the town, which is good if you've got a high bounty but need a place to chill.

I also love the look of the place, it's nice and quiet.

Be advised that I put stuff in the "Cupboard" just to the right of the door and some of it turned 'red'. <_< I haven't retrieved it yet so IDK if it will be tagged "Stolen" when I do.

Anything red in the cupboards don't show as stolen in my inventory.

I once bought everything from Grelka in Riften, just to see if she would be pleased. Nope. I didn't need any of it, so I dropped the loot in the barrel to the left of her stall. That barrel was labeled with the "steal" warning. I accidentally dropped a valuable piece of gear in there. I figured I could pull it out safely. Well, doing so prompted Grelka to bark, "You could've asked!", a 1 septim bounty, and an attack from a guard. Curiously, there were no other guards anywhere. He didn't even challenge me to arrest. I went to Honeyside and fetched Iona, who promptly disposed of him, lol. I don't think the item was marked as stolen, though. The act of taking from an owned container was a crime.
