So Robocop is being rebooted. There are some noticeable changes from the original such as how he became injured, his body being recolored to all black, and he has a human looking right hand.

I'm on the fence, but I cant get over the human looking hand!

Thoughts?

Had seen the trailer already.

It seems like it has the potential to be a great movie, but they made some dangerous choices:

*car bomb, a very cheap and lame way to die

*the tron-batman suit, looks terrible, like a plastic suit. Doesn't look like a robot body whatsoever.

They showed many other "robocops" in the trailer at once, so hopefully Murphy decides to go back to the old suit, or something in between, to differentiate himself.

The catalyst event in the first film will always stick in my mind as a very brutal scene.

An exploding car is pretty lame.

I prefer how he got those injuries in the original.

How do you remake what is, for all intents and purposes, an 80's period piece?

It might be good, but I don't see how it could really be Robocop.

My thoughts on the reboot exactly. It'd be like if they went and remade platoon but set it in Iraq. Well, maybe not exactly, but you get my point.

Get rid of the black suit, make it a satire and ultra violent, and then maybe I'm interested.

I hate the car bomb thing. I mean as many of you have said it is lame and how gruesome and brutal the original was in how he got injured just cant be beat.

I mean if they wanted a Robocop movie why not make an extension of the originals? I was thinking about this earlier. Make the movie about 30 years after Robocop III and have Detroit doing pretty good. Have some crazy stuff hapen and have Murphy thrown in and heavily damaged. Then have him retrieved and they can rebuild him and upgrade him giving him a faster computer system for his "AI" and a better body. If they wanted a family eliment, make his son a member of the team that rebuilds him and have a family dynamic spawn from that. Have his son resentful of him not being there after he realizes his father is alive and have Murphy give the Deus Ex line of "I didnt choose this".

Looks about as good as Dredd did...

I think it looks so bad it might be good. Only for the cynical entertainment value.

Except Dredd was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb4f1xpSu-I and remains one of my all time favourite aciton movies. This looks really generic and hollywood approved. I like how smart Dredd fights, it's what you would expect in real life.
