Robot Mechanic

The fact that we modders are blessed with the ability to change things is a huge bonus, but not what we paid for. What we pay for we get in the game, the same one on the console as in the PC. The GECK is gravy, and as I've said in another thread; I feel for the console users who can't mod, but that's no reason I should feel bad for being able to mod either - I put the time and money into my PC, and as a reward I get to mod. Each of us has their own story here, and the game company could never accommodate us all.

I never said you should feel bad or guilty for being able to mod. Thing is, Bethesda and Obsidian have the hindsight of Fallout 3 to show that the "Robot Mechanic" feature was a very popular addition.
Plus, since Robco Certified 1.0 was released prior to the GECK being available, the code changes required must have been few.

Science and Technology have always been a prominent element of all Fallout games. Repairing/controlling the many robots within the game seems like an obvious and natural addition.

Lastly, although console gamers aren't privy to the modding features which PC gamers enjoy, Developers should think of a process in which console gamers can create mods, and submit them to the dev team for "approval/code-checking." Once approved, they could make these mods available via DLC, etc.
Far-fetched, i know.

Not far fetched, just illegal. We've been told many times that the contracts written with Microsoft and Sony won't/don't allow for modding, so aside from any technical challenges they simply won't even try. Legal issues aside, there are massive technical challenges preventing modding on the consoles. I agree it would be nice, but in the end it's not up to us (or them). Obsidian will have to add the Robot Mechanic to the game for console users to have it - who knows, we may get surprised. :)
