role-playing a Dragonborn romance

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:25 pm

So for role-playing purposes i was moving the family from my house in the Pale to Windhelm (Aela and Hroar hate it in the Pale) so the intiation in to Dragonborn would feel organic, and things were working well i had fast traveled to Kynesgrove to trigger the cultist and that worked then i went to check on the family and asked wifey about the kids, and Aela starts ranting about the filth of the city, etc etc.She had loved the house before adoption, anyway Serana is and has been my companion, since dawnguard and there is a strong attraction there,so with all the crap from the wife at home,my Dragonborn is having a hard time fighting temptation and will soon give in to desire, lol,in his new manor in Raven Rock,i guess when the domestication of Hearthfire came,my Dragonborn has been driven to be a dirty rotten cheater, thanks for reading and allowing me to share, what off the wall role-playing have you all created ???

Made a serial killer who murdered any woman he saw as vulnerable in the dead of night, stealthily (anyone who wasn't essential). After he'd killed almost every non-essential woman, I had him get caught in the act because he started getting too much of a high from killing and started to get sloppy. So he's now got a bounty out in every hold and is widely hated and hunted. I pretend that his home is a cabin out in the wilderness.

I also made a Khajiit trader who got more than he bargained for when he came to Skyrim, and ended up getting captured by the Imperials (on a slight of racism, on their part), barely surviving the dragon attack as he escaped Helgen. After getting help from Hadvar and his uncle, he went off to Whiterun to join the Khajiit traders there.

Some more, here and there.

ummm i got some kids gave them weapons and tried to get them to kill eachother...i dont exactly get roleplaying but you seem...into it though. but uh yeah i just play to try to get every item in the game a master museum collector i suppose would be my "roleplay" guy and my house holds it all on display and stuff, i now have every base material item (ebony, elvish, orc. glass, daedric, etc.) and about 85% of the unique weapons and armor...so much stuff to get in this game, i moved houses with it all and it was about 13,000 weight.

Verena has adopted 2 daughters, but has yet to find a suitable spouse, so she was hoping that she would find someone in Solstheim. So far, she has not had any luck. That is as far as I have gotten in this RP. She is still looking for romance..............

Maybe I could help you find one? Not exactly TELL you, so as to keep the RP aspect alive, but sort of... nudge you in the right direction so you know what you've found when you found it. It all really depends on who your character is, what factions she's in, etc etc.

This seems to be a trend right now. Players' characters being addicted to skooma/alcohol, I mean. I wonder what the appeal to that is.

I dunno, felt he needed a journey of redemption from being a cast out ordinator or something and so he's a drunk and a Skooma addict( the den added from Dawnguard made me think of the idea.) So he battles his addiction and in the end overcomes it, and then I guess it gives a fair reason why he's level 1 at the beginning.

Well you should be happy that dragonborn adds the book "confessions of a skooma-eater" to help him recover.

Oh yes, please! Verena is an adventurer who has done all of the main quest, Companions, the College questline, TG and Dark Brotherhood. The TG and Dark Brotherhood she completed only to gain access to the shouts that you can learn from them. She is basically a good character who enjoys alchemy, enchanting, smithing, and trading with merchants. She loves a good romp through dungeons to find collectibles and stuff to improve, enchant and sell. She is not gender-specific about a spouse and it could be either female or male, although she tends to lean toward having a female. She does not really like Aela even though she thinks she is hot. Aela is too obsessed with herself and Verena cannot stand arrogance as a personality trait.
Verena is in Solstheim for awhile doing the side quests as she has already completed the main quest for Dragonborn. Her favorite weapon is the Dwarven crossbow, but she is currently working raising her Destruction skill.
Let me know if you need more info!

Are you specific on a race? Would she rather have someone who's fighting next to her, or safe at home in some village or city somewhere? Is she a total goody-two-shoes? Does she have a wild streak? Neutral? Or completely evil to the core? Imperial, Stormcloak, or it doesn't matter? Would you prefer a merchant/blacksmith/alchemist/etc? Would you rather a female/male be more masculine or feminine in personality?

Hard to think of someone. Clearly she wouldn't want a jerk. But.. most of the people in Skyrim are jerks...

Brelyna Maryon is a nice girl. She also has a very soft and pleasing voice. She's a mage in the College of Winterhold.
Ysolda is .. okay, I suppose. She's not terribly unattractive, and her voice is okay. She's also very nice. But she can't be a companion.
Sylgja is my favorite, personally. She's attractive, pleasant, and she lives in an all around safe area. She can't be a companion.
Argis the Bulwark is a possible follower. I'm assuming he's not terribly weak. Marrying him should be as easy as getting him as a housecarl.

That's all I can really think of. I tend to avoid people and stay up in High Hrothgar or the College of Winterhold.

My guy did something similar, but stayed faithful in the end, regardless of Aela's whining. I figured she'd grow to love the house I built eventually, and that its a silly reason to cheat on her with another woman who's clearly not looking for a relationship. Not to mention the damage something like this would do to the kids. Serana and I in the end stayed friends, and I went back home to my wife, who puts up with my constant leaving to adventure, all the while taking care of the kids I adopted before I married her, just to have me stay for a day or two before leaving again. And not to mention that she left her life in the companions to be with me. She's a wonderful woman. The least I can do is keep it in my pants.

You can all make fun of me now.

P.S. Anyone else find it strange that Aela the HUNTRESS complains about killing spiders and what not?

i find it very strange she complains, but in my game i have found her out in the wild slaying mammoths with a somehow resurrected Skjor, and i was in her room in Jorvaasker and Vignar grey-mane just popped in,so i guess i'm getting even, lol, but I'm under the impression Serana really digs you just doesn't want to involve the Aedra in it,because of her past, she would figure that would doom the relationship.....idk,that's the bubble i prefer to live in anyway

I dont know if you guys have ever done this but I guess I can share what I am doing with two characters. I RP that they live in the same time as each other. My Nord is the DB but my Dunmer is a knowledge seeker that has come to Skyrim to well.. seek knowledge. My Dunmer character has met up with the DB and he wishes to accompany him on his journeys, which the DB agrees to and they become fast friends even though they are very different. How I do this, is that I get a Dunmer follower for my Nord and dress him how my actual character would look like and vice versa, and I play whichever character I feel like. They can lead very different lives but meet up now and again for some questing or RP'ing its quite enjoyable.

i have not done this but,my 2 best friends, they play Skyrim, one plays a Argonian the other a Khajit,so i was pondering using Derkeethus and J'zargo and putting them in the same armor and everything, but i commend you on your RP'ing ideas

I play a former Shadowscale who killed another. After fleeing the Black Marsh, and running to Skyrim. Taking freelance jobs on the far end of Skyrim seemed a good way to avoid those hunting him. Was caught up in the ambush when trying to conduct an assassination on an Imperial involved in the attack on the Stormcloaks. After escaping from Alduin, he started looking for work. Taking most jobs that came his way until being brought into the Dark Brotherhood. Seeing the weakened infrastructure of the Brotherhood, he takes the opportunity to seize power over them. Finding that the Thieves Guild is also lacking in strong leadership, he begins working his way into a spot of power in the Guild. Taking it all for his own after Mercer's betrayal is exposed.

Combining the resources of the Brotherhood, the Guild, and the Nightingales, he forms a Syndicate, taking control of, organizing, and profiting from all of the dark secrets Skyrim holds. Ruling the underworld of Skyrim has brought some attention, none more troublesome than Valdimar. An old nord warrior who claims to know something about my character's past, but that is.. Another story.

Says the person who helped me with building the character. Thank you, though. I do like this idea of having two existing characters. Using followers to substitute for them. That's a great way to have multiple characters and maintain a somewhat consistent world.

@Alexander: Do you kill off the doppelganger in their respective worlds? For instance, your in the nord's version of the world, do you kill off the nord db member, or do you just let him exist as he is in that world?

In this regard, I like to internally monologue letters to the wife and kids in Markarth, detailing my finds and chronicles an life among the Dunmer, an with well wishes that I will be returning soon-- Love Papa Dragonborn.
Oh and I also be sure to "send" some nicknacks for the kids.
