Role Playing a Samurai...help and tips?

Post » Fri Oct 12, 2012 4:32 pm

So today I decided that instead of focusing on making my character completely bad ass, I decided to focus on role playing more. I've always had a love for the samurai warriors, so decided to give it a go.

Funny thing is I've used a Redguard and made it look Asian :D
Obviously things like using the blade's sword (closest thing to a katana, that and Ebony Blade), I would like more help. Any suggestions? I'm all ears :)

Blades armour looks very samurai. Also, fight with honour. Don't finish a downed opponent. Allow him to rise and fight back.

Well, considiering Samurai are basically TWO HANDED, you are going to have to ditch the Blades sword because its inappropriate for a samurai.

Secondly, a Samurai lives by the code of bushido, which directly translated into Skyrim world equates to a Paladin build.

Thirdly, you have to decide if you will be a ronin or not. This basically means you have no master. A regular samuari serves someone else - a master. Kinda like a housecarl. If not, then paladin it is.

Or, you can just equip the Blade's armor and sword and pretend you are a samurai because they are somewhat modeled after a samuari.

I so wish they'd introduce an Akaviri man additional playable race that is samurai influenced.

I usually make my Dunmer & Argonians as kinda oriental themed. Argonians more as I tend to model them on ninjas by giving them DB armor and dual wielding with sword & dagger. I then give them sneak, archery, alchemy and illusion.

My main problem with tht is that the Ebony Blade (only two handed katana like weapon) isn't accessible until further into the game whereas a blades sword even Bolar's Oathblade is very much near the beginning.

If you're on PC you can probably find a tanto / wakizashi mod so you can dual-wield it with bolar's oathblade, otherwise you'll have to settle with a regular old dagger. Also, the highest-ranking samurai were archers, so you might want to incorporate that into your character.

Well, Samurai wielded katana for the most part which could be used either one-handed or two-handed. Similar to long swords for Europeans. Dai-katana on the other hand are bigger and require two hands (essentially the ebony blade) to use effectively.

Bolar's Oathblade would serve you more than adequately, as far as weapons go.

You could use Whirlwind Sprint as like the type of atack in the movies and stuff where Samurai quickly launch themselves forward to make fast strikes. And since someone else mentioned that most samurai served masters perhaps the Greybeards can be your masters. They have honor and they will teach you the first word in the shout I mentioned before.

Samurai also used bows, so you could include archery as part of your build.
