Roleplaying and Not-Roleplaying

So, I know a lot of people don't roleplay when they play Skyrim. I had never tried it, to be honest, until recently. I just wanted to share my experience and start a discussion on the merits/flaws of it.

I started a Nord thief, built around sneaking, archery and one-handed weapons. I wrote a two paragraph back-story for him. I became Guild Master of the Thieves guild, and took me almost six in game months. I had about 15 or so self-imposed rules that I went by, like eating and sleeping, having to wait a certain amount of time after crafting an item or piece of furniture (Hearthfire) etc. I got married, adopted two girls, lived out near Solitude on my farm. I stayed on my farm mostly, working the garden, hobbying around the smithy in my basemant, trying to get better. I only left the farm to go adventuring when money got tight and I needed to restock the kitchen with food.

Honestly, its the most fun I've had in a long time. One of those playthroughs that always sticks with you. Unfortuntetly, my game glitched, badly, with my wife (Ysolda), glitching out and refusing to do anything but run in place.

After that, however, I figured I would play a normal game, just like the average person would. Needless to say I got to level 5 and felt as though I was cheating lol. I started another playthrough and intend to run it like I did before.

Anyway, I wanted to get other peoples stories, and also how people roleplay the game, whether its a little or a lot. No making of fun of anyone, just swapping stories and ideas.

Hope to hear from all of you.

I've never actually taken roleplaying to seriously to be honest, although with a few mods that have made my game more hardcoe.. I have been eating, drinking and sleeping much more (prior to the mods I never really did any of these). One of my mods also makes Skyrim a more dangerous place (both province and creatures/npcs) so I have to be quick about where I go and how I fight although the latter isn't as hard now that I'm higher in level.

I'll say that I've had much more fun playing the game this way though, and it's been fun to set up camps every now and then when I'm in the wilderness and I've even been hanging out in the inns more often. I've only installed a few specific mods, but they have made the game twice more fun for me.. I installed them primarily for a more realistic experience but it's been cool to do some of the smaller things I've started as well. :D
