Roleplaying a Nightingale Vampire: Ideas?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:50 am

My Bosmer archer character recently became a Nightingale and the Guild Master. He enjoys the benefits of Nocturne's agreement, but also doesn't want to break their agreement to by becoming a vampire. Since Nocturne claims the servitude of her agents for awhile in the afterlife, becoming immortal seems kind of cheap. I suppose this is more of a roleplay/lore question, but how do you think Nocturne would react to a Nightingale becoming a vampire to serve her forever in an immortal life?

Not to burst your RP bubble but you can swear to as many gods as you want and they wont do anything.
I'm "sworn" to nocturnal and many others and I'm still a vampire lord.
There is going to be one huge brawl over my dragonborns soul if he ever dies.

I don't think you understand RP, we all know the game has little consequence in terms of defying gods, so you RP the outcome.

I've always wondered, if anyone knows. How many people, if you play the game 100% doing all the missions, have claim to your soul?

There's going to be a free-for-all if you die.

Being a Nightingale is being in a business contract. Since thieves don't honor agreements, and looking
for "loopholes" is exactly what businesses do, you should be fine to become immortal, realistically speaking.
Nocturnal would just think for a moment... and say "Well Played."

True, but the Thieve's Guild questline gave me the honor among thieves impression, especially with the whole Mercer Frey incident. My character will probably play the middleground: Loophole his way out of servitude in the afterlife, but continue serving her in his immortal life.

Nightingales main responsibility in this realm is to protect the Twilight Sepulcher. So as long as you are doing that,
you are still holding to your agreement. When you die, should you die, your soul belongs to Nocturnal. Becoming a
mortal Werewolf and aligning with Hircine conflicts with the contract because you are promising your soul to two
different daedra. All the meanwhile, I long to visit Shor's Hall in Sovngarde. Lol

I wonder though, if you are soul trapped and sent to Soul Cairn, how does that make the daedra feel?

Deadric gods themselves are full of trickery. They manipulate others, a couple quests have you going up against the followers of rival deadric gods. For an RP player, I would use this. Consider the Dragon in the Soul Cairn, he made a deal, and got screwed by it. Why can't you do the same? Immortality does not break your deal with the goddess, it merely alters the time it will take to fulfill your agreement. You may be immortal to age, but you are not immortal to death...

He wouldnt have posession of your soul in the afterlife because, in theory, you wont need an afterlife. So not really.

From Nocturna's veiw, so long as you hold to your vow to protect her shrine when called, You are free to do with the power given to you as you see fit. Vampire, Werewolf, Dragon chew toy, it doesn't matter to her so long as you honor your contract. the prospect of imortality just means that she will have a much more powerful servant and guardian in the world for that much longer. Last, can you think of a better place for a vampiric soul to go then the eternal comforting shadows of her Realm?

Er but won't becoming a vampire pretty much forfeit your soul to molag bal? Its like hircine if you become a werewolf you will go to his hunting grounds when you die.

Well you'd be stripped of all your gear and perks I'd assume.

But Molag Bal offers immortality in Nirn. The others want you to come to THEIR realm. Plus he only "gets your soul" if
you are a cute female and he does something to you that would show up as [censored] on here.

The only vamps going to Coldharbor are the ones that willingly let him have his way with them. The Purebloods. Heck in Morrowind he was perfectly happy to cure your vampirism if ya did him a favor. He could care less. As for Hircine, generation of Harbingers have willingly elluded his grasp while hiding near the hearthfire in the tomb of Ysgramor. Hircine doesn't mind if a few get away. It's the nature of the Hunt after all. Nocturna on the other hand is Luck incarnate and the patron goddess of thieves. If she wants your soul, I rather doubt you'd notice it was missing untill it was too late.

The thing is, the agreement you can make in the game is to protect the twilight sepulcher and guard it for awhile in the afterlife too before you move on to her realm. She doesn't really want your soul, she just wants your servitude. Your soul going to her realm is more of one of the benefits of the agreement than her prize. That's the way I see it.

What if they had a scene in skyrim when you died where all the people who claimed your soul like the Daedra, patron god of your race, ect crowded over you and started fighting.

It would be hilarious, though annyoing for some people if it happened every time you died. A "Champions Challenge" DLC where you have to contest other champions of the daedra for artifacts or boons would be cool for that, though.

I think when you die, you should go to another realm and get sent back to Nirn to finish your responsibilities. But you can explore those realms as much as you like as well.

I think pledging your soul to multiple daedric princes and then becoming a vampire so you can't die... is actually a rather elegant loophole.
Besides, everybody knows that when you make a deal with a supernatural entity that involves your soul... you cheat them out of it.

The interesting thing is that you have to make a deal with another supernatural entity to cheat the other supernatural entities.
