RPG titles that need to be remade.

...not "re-imagined".

Just *remade*.

Modern graphics and GUI's. Perhaps a bit more polish for dialogue and such.

1.) The Magic Candle
2.) The Ultima Series (Especially III-VII)
3.) D&D: Pool of Radiance
4.) Darklands
5.) Starflight
6.) Betrayal at Krondor
7.) Might and Magic: Worlds of Xeen
8.) Daggerfall
9.) Albion
10.) Divine Divinity

What's on your wishlist?

I'm not going to say Baldur's Gate, Planescape or something like that. People would just get disappointed if they were remade now. So I'm going to say Nox :P Not a very popular title AFAIK but I like it and it would be pretty awesome with modern graphics and stuff

Fans will inevitably find something wrong with any remake, even if it's an exact copy with better graphics.

None. Can't think of any game that would benefit from a remake.

Remakes of my favorite games of old have one terrible drawback: I have already played them to death. I would prefer a sequel with the same atmosphere or (better yet) an entirely new game, using modern technology to make story-driven RPGs that boggles my mind. ATM I'm looking forward to http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/ and http://www.shadowrun.com/shadowrun-universe/shadowrun-returns.

On the other hand, there are a lot of really good old games that I haven't played, and I'm sure I have enjoyed a lot of games that many have not. Arcanum would be a good candidate.

Yep :D I love Morrowind but since I played Oblivion first and then played MW I just can't take the graphics seriously, they're decent for the time but on my Xbox 360 it looks really bad and lags way too much (my computer version is fine though with mods and such). Even if they just updated the graphics to Oblivion standards I'd be happy. Also if they just made character movements more fluid and natural looking that'd be great. There isn't anything gameplay-wise I can think of improving since it's such a great game, just some graphical touch ups to make it more pleasing to the eye :P

Well, I guess it wasn't an RPG, but too bad :)

Seiken Densetsu 3. It was never released outside of Japan so it's an excellent choice for a remake. Plus, the Mana series never did make the jump to 3D successfully. This would be a good opportunity to get it right. :P

I suppose that depends on what "remade" refers to.

If someone were to take all of the dialogue, locations, and characters from Planescape: Torment and give them a cutting edge engine I think that would be awesome. Given the age of the game I think it would even have a practical market, lots of people get turned off from old games because they don't have the nostalgia factor to get them past grainy or low-resolution visuals.

However PST is sort of a special case, however, since so much of the game's depth doesn't come from the gameplay, but the text, which is fairly transferable. On the other hand I don't think Daggerfall would fare well given the same treatment, as more advanced graphics would just make the repetitive nature of locations that much more apparent.

I'd like a remake of Arena and Dagger. Face it, they run on obsolete platforms and they are horribly buggy.

Final Fantasy 7 sounds like a good candidate. Those graphics did not age well.

Keeping the original and just adding achievements, a cheat DLC and DRM doesn't count. The Cloud gaming joke also doesn't last.

Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max: Hit the Road remade like the Monkey Island games would be nice.

Phantasy Star IV was going to be remade like the first two games, but unfortunately that never happened. :nope:

Seiken Densetsu 3. It was never released outside of Japan so it's an excellent choice for a remake. Plus, the Mana series never did make the jump to 3D successfully. This would be a good opportunity to get it right.
