You will find no welcoming experience when dealing with hardcoe PC gamers.
Just sayin'.
I'm an avid hardcoe PC gamer, and last nights news almost made me throw up.
Considering that ESO will have separate megaservers for console players and PC/Mac players, you won't have to deal with them in game. And that is probably a good thing.
The rudeness comes out of spite due to the push back of the PC Release. They believe the announcement of the console release the PC version has been pushed to coincide with that release. However, as I http://www.tesoelite.com/forums/threads/eso-release-pushed-back-good-idea-or-bad.312/#post-2747 the push back of the PC version isn't due to the console announcement but more so due to the over all content is missing.
We are not playing with the console gamers the get there own Server, also the game will suffer because of this console gamers.
Complexity is gone, they need to make the combat easy enough so console players are able to keep up with the enemies. Smart AI my ass.
Future graphic updates after 2-4 years are not possible because consoles cant upgrade there components.
Proberly we also have the only 6 skills thanks to console players, so i understand that many dont want these console players.
The acting is quite rude yes. But not only towards console-gamers. They seem to hate everyone who isn't generic fan of MMOs. I for one have faced many rude answers and people considering my wishes for the game are stupid and worthless. I am PC-gamer myself and TES fan since Morrowind but on TESO forums I'm nothing but dirt because I'm unfamiliar with MMOs and I wish TESO to continue the glorious titles of The Elder Scrolls.
Edit: And those comments saying marketing towards consoles causes dumping down are just [censored]. Only dumping down in TESO is caused because of marketing the game towards MMO-players.
PC gamers just like to always think that PC tech is lightyears ahead of console, that's only really true when we get into the mid and later life cycles of a console generation. I think some people get used to the mentality like we have now with PC tech versus PS3 and 360 tech,
But remember, this is the internet and people are just going to be rude anyway.
No it doesn't. The Xbox and Ps4 will have their own entirely separate megaservers. All it means is that PC/Mac players are punished with a delayed launch so the Xbox and PS4 versions don't have lower sales.
Personally, I wonder if it doesn't have more to do with the fact that Blizzard shoved Titan off to who-knows-when. For Zenimax that takes a lot of pressure off- essentially no competition.
Xbox one is already behind on their technology.
Ps4 is up to date with the DDR5 memory. And within the next year, DDR5 RAM will be available on newegg, and consoles will be out of date.
DDR5 RAM from the E3 conference seemed to make the console unstable anyway and made it lag. The clock speeds are ridiculous on it.
The PC will always be superior to the console, in every way. We're at a point in technology where we are constantly coming out with new big things.
I have a feeling part of the delay is that they now want to include some of the Adventure Zones at launch and are now working on them.
I don't really think we've been lied to. I think it's more likely they originally had no plans until they got a better look at the next generation consoles. When they realized it was possible to make ESO for PS4 and XBONE, that's when the announcement was made.
Unlikely. It will probably be a rush to get the console versions functional, if buggy. I don't know how long they've been working on this (or how much time they've had with the new hardware), but all things considered, they will have a fraction of the work of the pc/mac versions, and it will be crunch time for the Zeni crew for the forseeable future.
A console don't have mouse or keyboard, so that means that a cross platform game needs to be designed with this in mind. From a PC gamers POW this feels like dumbing down the game
No competition, okay lol and that depends if Titan was coming out on console. Fact is that more people playing TESO means the more money for ZeniMax, it's not rocket science to figure out unless you still think that ZeniMax are not after your cash like other devs.
It's not only because of the delayed release. It is more so because people fear that consoles will ruin this game and will dumb it down. But now that we know there will be seperate megaservers, and that the game was initially designed for PC, most of that can be pushed aside. Hell, I'd rather they take a bit more time on the game and then release a version that is fleshed out and finished, unlike all the mmo's that were released unfinished, because some great publishers was breathing in their necks... *cough* EA *cough*. Just look at Warhammer Online and SWTOR. Released waay to early and were filled with gamebreaking bugs and lack of content.
It was like that with Skyrim, true. But ESO was developed and initially anounced as a PC game. Which means it will be ported to console. Add to that the seperated megaservers, and you probably won't see much of the dumbing down on your PC version.
I think the are just need more time to tune them down, so console players will be able to finish them.
Time to draw a lot of heat onto myself. I must like to suffer or something.
They're just being grouchy after a year of hearing "no plans for consoles". To be fair, people on both sides of that fence get really obnoxious over their preferences. I think the biggest grump stems from the hopes that TESO would be out later this year, and not early next year--The announcement that it wouldn't be out until spring 2014 coming practically on top of the console announcement makes people see a cause for the delay which may or may not be the case--All of Zenimax's studios have a habit of declaring that the game will be released when it's ready, and this is the first time in recent memory for a lot of us that we've seen a general announce timeframe from the company get pushed back. A similar thing happened with 2K/Rockstar when they pushed GTA5 back to the fall (effectively making the PS4 version a launch title for that console, despite the fact that it will be on the PS3 as well).
Sort of true, but at the same time--There's nothing in the PS4 that isn't available to PCs right now, and it's still months away from release. People that have to be on the bleeding edge will have superior systems in terms of specs. There are enough PC gamers that buy a PC and only upgrade when they absolutely have to precisely because they don't want to drop hundreds of dollars on a console every 3-4 years. In the end, it costs about the same amount of money to stay low-to-mid range the whole time, but because they can do it piecemeal, it fits their budgets better.
I don't think EA has been a "great" publisher for a long time. Too much executive meddling from the parent company to the studios resulted in things being released half-done or piecemeal (I'm not dropping $50 on a game just to have to spend another $100 on "extras" that should have been release features.) The way they treat their customers doesn't help. Sadly, most fans of their franchises eat the same garbage sandwich over and over again, and then beg for more.
The XBox One and PS4 are highly similar in terms of tech specs, with the main differences being the processor (XBox One will have a proprietary processor) and system RAM (DDR3 vs GDDR5).
On the bright side for the guys at ZOS, the PS4 and XBox one are both using X86 processor architechture, meaning that porting between systems will be easier than it's ever been before.
I hook up a standard PC USB mouse and keyboard to my PS3 whenever I need them (it's faster than using the controller to type on an in system keypad) , and can hook up a gaming controller to my PC. Your point is invalid.
It's to be expected man, just roll with it.
I always used to prefer PC games because they generaly have a lot more depth and complexity to them.
Of course that was back when I was 20 something and had not much else to do with my expendable income but build a rig. Not to mention the fact that consoles were a joke compared to a good PC.
Consoles have come a long way, and I'm real happy to see that I wont have to miss out on the next installment of one of my all time fav game IP's.
I admit that I'd be a bit miffed too if I spent a ton of $ and time to build a "screamer", just to see that the game I had most looked forward to is now gona be on console as well. I can honestly empathize.
no I don't think its a anger towards you consolers at all its more of confusion and a bit of an outrage at zenimax , they said PC only several times and it would release sometime in 2013. now its spring of 2014 which is likely a year away now as spring 2014 ends in june. it being on consle now changes game direction drastically to even more action base and less MMO. I think its primarily us pure MMO'rs that are upset. though im not upset im just disappointed. not really looking forward to the game anymore.
As an avid, "hardcoe" PC gamer, I say welcome! No rudeness from me. I do hope this doesn't mean the PC version will be dumbed down but for me, if things are like Skyrim or Oblivion, I'm good. Both were primarily console titles, after all.
What I am really glad about, though, is that *you* the console player will be segregated from *us* the PC player. Why? Because as much as I enjoy winning in PvP I don't want to be doing so with mouse+keyboard against someone using a console controller. That's just a ridiculously unfair advantage I'd have.
To be fair, the PC I bought 3 years ago for $1500 (probably worth about $500 now) is still better than either of the new consoles' specs.
So? How is the change in tech really going to affect how TESO plays like over the next year?
