Sad scenes that make you choked up or cry

Post » Sun Sep 23, 2012 2:11 pm

I've seen a thread on favorite movie lines and it had me thinking on what favorite movie moments make you sad and cry? I'm not an emotional man but i still have emotions ha so here's a few movie moments that had me choked up and misty eyed:
The end of rocky 2 when he finally wins
the end of braveheart
john Q at this part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjbkzGiM2sE and the end of john Q. when he saw his son (these had me tearing once i became a father of a baby boy)

this part of armageddon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H0pnL03vB0

thats all i can think of right now so share if you care.

I didn't post links to the movie endings in case people haven't seen them yet and i haven't watched pursuit of happynes yet but i hear that if you're a father you'll ball your eyes out :P

The endings of The Green Mile and Big Fish made me sad. I've never cried because of a movie, but I've been saddened or otherwise been emotionally moved.

The pursuit of happiness is a pretty emotional film :)

I can't actually think of any right now but I know there have been a few films where an emotional response was triggered for me. It's a strange feeling actually because it feels good even though you're not having a cheerful emotional reaction.

I cry pretty often when I watch dramas and movies like that. Even the ending of Shawshank Redemption made me choked up and teary. :P

I'm not afraid of showing my emotions, and I really appreciate good stories.

Any movie where a beloved animal companion dies, usually a dog.

The ending of The Notebook got me, I have to admit.

The ending of The Green Mile. It doesn't make me cry or anything, but it's a serious downer.

The scene in Neverending Story where a certain animal companion dies in a swamp.

The crying scene in Spirited Away.

Wilson was such a good and well developed character. Probably more developed than some characters in new movies.

That scene actually made me feel really sorry for Tom Hanks, and you know a movie is good when parting with an old volleyball makes one sad.

Throughout Clannad. Got a little choked up during Angel Beats too. Same with Kanon, but to a lesser degree.

That scene never really bothered me, there really isn't a movie that I get emotional in other then watching old movie that the actors in it I once knew are now dead like Deforest Kelly and Jame Doohan in the ST movies and Lessle Neelson in the Necked Gun, Airplane and other works he done. I usually find myself missing them but that's about it.

The TV show Fringe has got me a few times. The most memorable one was when Walter ends up lost in Chinatown (I think), after being so desperate to be independent and without a carer. And he ends up alone, lost, confused and he can't remember any phone numbers to call someone for help, and he sits on a bench and has a little cry. :cold:
John Noble is absolutely blinding in this show - he's made me laugh and well up so many times it's unbelievable.

Avatar. When they were attempting to transfer Dr.Augustines' soul into her Avatars' body. It was the whole ceremony that got me a bit emotional, and the failure at the end of it.

Speaking of sad game scenes, definitly when Alice was temporarily revived by the Emmigray Manuscript and Yuri used his powers to keep whatever those were from absorbing her. She lived long enough to tell him she loved him before dying again, for good this time. I have to say, between this and Titanic, a tie between the worse circumstances star crossed lovers can have.

For me personally I would have to go with what happened with Data at the end of Star Trek Nemesis. That one was a hard pill to swallow at the time I 1st saw that.
