Safe to bloodcurse the sun with Auriel's Bow on Solstheim?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:20 am

I love the effect it has, but i do not like the vampire attacks at all. Will there be vamp attacks when using it on Solstheim?

I am curious about this as well . OP, do you often use the bloodcursed arrow on the mainland ? Does it affect the attacks a lot ?

If the sun is up, you can draw the arrow and point it at where you think the sun may be at that time of day, and if your cursor passes over the sun, it will darken your screen briefly (or lighten, if using the blessed arrows). The trouble with the southern part of Solstheim is it's damn hard to tell what time of day it is, especially since the nighttime looks like the day time. The sky during the day never gets bright, and the aurora above the ash and clouds at night light up the ground and sky so much at night that there really is no difference from AM to PM. Of course, if you're a vampire, you can always tell if it's day time.

Another issue is that with Solstheim being so mountainous and hilly, during the early and later parts of the day, the sun may be obscured by parts of the island itself. If it's early or late in the day, try getting to high ground: Highpoint Tower, on top of one of the shorter mushroom towers in Tel Mithryn, or somewhere up on Moesring Pass. It could also help to go the the eastern part of the island in the morning; if you're in Raven Rock, you probably won't have line-of-sight with the sun until midday.

I have been carrying Auriel's Bow around with me since I got it. I improved it with smithing, but it still doesn't seem to do enough damage, even though I only use it on undead, where it is supposed to do triple damage. Sorry, not really on-topic, but did not want to create a separate thread just for this question: What is the best damage stat that one can get on this bow, improved?
(My stats show 341 damage)

There are zero vampire attacks on Solstheim. You can fire with impunity. And you guys know that the clear skies shout makes it much easier to aim, right?

The bow itself doesn't do triple damage. It will only do triple damage with sunhallowed arrows.

I do use the sun-hallowed arrows. Does the triple damage apply to the arrows and not the bow?

If I remember correctly, it's by using them together.

Neither. Pretty sure it triples the enchanment damage, i.e. the sun damamge of 20 is tripled to 60.
