Safe loot storage?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 3:50 pm

I am picking this game up at midnight, and I am not going to start the main quest for a while, I am just going to explore. However, can someone tell me one safe place to store loot near where you start so I don't have to worry about it?

Buy a house it's a safe bet because leaving your loot in random places could cause you to lose it.

I've heard Helgen is pretty much deserted after the tutorial. You could just keep all your [censored] there?

I read somewhere that dragon corpses work pretty well, because they never disappear and you can store stuff there. Kinda weird though.

I just bought a house to be safe. There is a cheap one in Whiterun.

I would like a good alternative to purchasing a house at this point. Right now I am carrying about 100 lbs of stuff that I don't need on me, but I don't want to part with. However, I don't have the 5k to pay for a house in Whiterun.

Can you use the house in the first town you get to (arrg, sorry I can't remember the name.. Riverdell or such) to store stuff in? I know it's not your house (and which house you can sue.. depends on the MQ).. and there are npc's living there (since it is their place).. but is anything you leave there safe? Or will the npc's loot your loot?

This is false. I've seen dragon skeletons disappear.

You can purchase an amulet of mara and get married to the crazy lady in the whiterun inn (bannermane or whatever). She has a house you can use.

Actually this is a good question.

Manual says this: Never leave things in containers you do not own! They may not be there when you come back for them. Buying a house is one way to own containers.

If there are other ways is not yet confirmed afaik.
