Safest City

Post » Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:27 am

Where do you think is the safest city, roleplay wise, for you to move your family?

I personally love the Marketh dwavern style home, but I'm iffy about moving my family there. There are people a part of a secret cult that eat people and people killing people in the street. Whiterun is safe, but if you do the civil war it becomes a battleground. Windhelm has murder with Blood on Ice. And so forth.

They are all safe. No enemy can get inside (in fact, guards are kind of useless inside cities). I would suggest Whiterun because it gives a cozy, safe feeling.

I didn't really meant in that sense. I know they are all safe like that. I meant with roleplay logic. Would you want to move your family in a city with a secret cult that eats people or there's a serial killer on the loose?

I wouldn't really call any of them safe. As they all have a chance of being attacked by Vampires or even a Dragon.

RP wise...Either Solitude or Markarth for me.

Whiterun but Breezehome is small.
Windhelm but its more of a cold climate city but Hjerim is large, warm and cozy. RP wise I usually chose this place.
Solitude. Nice, warm clean city. Large home for the family.

Markarth... don't like that city, wouldn't call it safe even though I am sure it is.

Solitude probably has the most strategically valuable spot, and the safest locals of the bunch. On top of that, it seems to have nicer weather than more places, and if things do get dicey, you're only a short sprint from the docks to escape to the sea.

Markarth has weird locals, and you run the risk of your child falling 40 feet from the high steps.
Riften is corrupt, and has lots of dangerous wildlife outside.
Windhelm has bad weather, a murderer, and racial tensions that could explode at some point in the future. (Also, there's a chance your house is haunted)
Whiterun is pretty good, but is landlocked, making escape difficult if you need it.

i woudent say that "No enemy" could get inside... theirs always a way or opportunity to storm... but i would have to agree that whiterun feels warm and home

MARKARTH!!!!!

Spoiler
The second you enter someone is murdered. The silver bloods have been murdering anyone sticking their noses into their buisness for years, with forsworn agents inside the city who try to kill you and a corrupt guard force that are more than happy to turn a blind eye to people dying around them and have no qualms about throwing you in jail for the rest of your life

Tell that to the smoldering heaps of rubble and the balls of fire raining in during the civil war... :P

Well, to be honest i feel that Markarth is the safest city in general. The reason being is because Markarth, if well armed, and guarded were to be attacked, it couldn't be attacked from any direction but the north really. Mountains surround almost all its sides, and then the walls are just huge on the Northern side. Solitude in general just dosn't feel safe... i mean, who puts a city on top of rock that is hanging above ground? Smart...

Whiterun Because

Riften has Thieves that steal your sutff (Not really, Just RP WISE)

Markarth has the Forsworn

Windhelm has a murderer.

Those Dragons invade all those small towns.

Solitude might also be safe. If you aren't afraid of heights :shifty:

I'd say Solitude, but it has a semi-secret entrance below the city that is a huge weak-spot in the
city's defense. But you have the legion to protect you, and the walls are sturdy and thick. It also
has Skyrim's only sewage facility, so you don't have to worry about contracting ataxia as much.

Solitude is the safest. Riften gots thieves. Markarth gots Forsworn and cannibals. Windhelm gots Stormcloaks, serial killers, and black sacrements. Solitude gots bards...

Surely Solitude is the safest. It has an army stationed there and it has the strongest looking walls.

Just a question. Does a wife complain if you move your family there (Hearthfire)? I bought all the Hearthfire manors but I chose to keep my family at Markarth. When I ask about our daughter, Aela complains about the Forsworn threat. I have had dragons attack me within the Markarth walls so that city isn't entirely safe. I've not yet had one attack me inside the walls of Solitude yet.

I Think you're missing the Legion cutting off a dude's head who just wanted to help.

But you have the legion to protect you

What Legion? :bunny:

So the city's laws are rigidly enforced then? That sounds much better than the Stormcloaks lettering a murderer roam the streets at night.

Probably Solitude, but if you don't do the Civil War questline, then Whiterun would be just as good.

Edit: Just confirming that dragons do attack Windhelm as well. I've had it once or twice.
