That was about what to wear and such, what race I should be etc.

This is about the roleplaying, which someone said in the other thread, be honorable, but no one cared to elaborate so I made a thread

Read up on Bushido if you want to be really accurate. Mostly, though, it's basically common sense.

My warriors don't pick locks or use poisons,so I wouldn't expect a Samurai to do so.
Health, stamina and resistance potions for sure.
As far as looting the dead are conscerned I'm not sure, but I figure there not going to be needing there stuff anymore.

Honour extended no further than the battlefield or a duel.

Sure I did. To sum up and add to: No stealing. No Lieing. No bribery. No poison. Fight honorable foes honorably (one on one, face to face, and with a similar weapon - melee or bow). Obey your lord unto death. Please note, in war fighting honorably is out unless challenged to a duel. So you can shoot a melee fighter with a bow.

Picking locks is fine as long as you are not stealing or trespassing (unless on a mission for your lord). In regards to the dead, that would depend on whether or not they are your dead. If they are your dead, then you should leave the stuff alone unless your lord has need of it.

Samurai =/= Paladin. It just depends on how you want to play it, really.

did you pick redguard and go afro samurai? :)

seriously though read hagakure aka way of the samurai to get more insight. Fyi samurai were retainers of lords and were usually born samurai just like most lords...its a form of nobility passed thru bloodlines but not everyone was "noble". Samurai means to serve iirc and they lived and died in service of their lords, trying to maintain bushido in service.

In this game you might be better off playing a ronin with no lord or you can rp and serve ulfric or other jarls

In an honoarable fight, you will fight a melee fighter with a melee weapon. If the opponent is using a bow, you can use one. If you decide to use a melee weapon instead of a bow, you would get more honor from the fight - win or lose.

To play a passable samurai simply kill all peasants that don't immediately to you. Also, whenever fighting against someone wearing metal armor, ditch your cheap samurai sword and get a big fat Tetsubo (aka Club) because otherwise your precious katana will dent or break.

Keep in mind samurai were not immune to corruption, and neither were their lords - and some didn't even have lords. Make your character's backstory to fully understand their motivation.

How honorable should I be? Not Very.

If I find a chest - should I leave it ? No, take it with you.

Picking locks- Bad? Good

Poisons- Bad? Great.

I was gonna suggest Bushido, but I missed the bus and was late to the party.

Is that in the least bit necessary?

To stay on topic and not insult anybody else's intelligence with a completely non-constructive critique, no. That doesn't mean that you have to fight all enemies with the same weapon-type they're using. It means if you are challenged you must use a similar weapon. Bob challenges you with a sword, you take Bob's life with a sword. Bert challenges you with a bow, than you fight Bert with a bow.

How honorable should I be? I would say the samurai took honor very seriously in general, although there were always exceptions, due to human nature and evil. If you want to be a "typical" samurai, then an honorable attitude is what you need. Ponder the morality within any given situation, and side yourself with good, not evil. It's very similar to how people play paladin and knight characters.

If I find a chest - should I leave it ? Yes, and no. In my opinion, if the chest belongs to somebody you know is alive, and is not a law-breaker, then certainly not. If the chest is in the wilderness or in a cave/camp/fort controlled by outlaws, then I believe it's fair to take it at that point.

Picking locks- Picking locks as a means to an end in going through an area you know is controlled by bandits or other wrong-doers, is fine. Breaking into somebody's property, unless absolutely necessary for the main quest, isn't.

Poisons- I think poisons are more reminiscent of the ninja than samurai.

Taking from the dead(main question) - As in, If I kill someone that has started a battle with me..Could I take what he has? Or is it dishonorable to take from the dead? It's a grey area here, but if you if must, then take what you need. I personally think it must be disrespectful to unclothe every person's corpse in an area, because you're "looting" their armor. Weapons and other items seems OK.

Another thing, either two-handed or one-handed is fine for a samurai in Skyrim, but keep in mind that there is only one known two-handed katana in the game. I believe it's the Ebony Blade, and the rest are all one-handed Blades swords.

I play my character similarly to that of a samurai, holding morals and believing that the good of the many outweighs the need of the few or self. However, I'm more of a rogue than strictly adhering to what is honorable. I will do whatever it takes to accomplish what I believe the greater good is for Skyrim.
