Sanguine Rose & Marcurio

Post » Fri Aug 17, 2012 2:36 am

My Assassin Dalhia married Marcurio and as a wedding gift gave him Sanguine Rose ( she doesn't generally use any magic except illusion and alteration).
The few times she used the staff Marcurio and the Dremora would end up fighting with each other.... So I figured If Marcurio was summoning the Dremora, it wouldn't get hostile if he hit it...errr that was wrong... .

The last Dungeon we did ended ( sort of) with multiple Dragur Deathlords, Sourges and Wrights... Dalhia ended up shooting the Dremora in the back with a Paralize poison +Nighengale bow.

I know better than to give followers area effect staff's, but has anyone else had a Problem with Sanguine Rose if the follower was using it? I know a summoning Staff will say "followers" summons, I haven't been able to get close enough to the Dremora to see if it say's Marcurios.

A couple of times I've accidentally hit Marcurio's Dremora and it will then attack me. I don't think I've ever seen the Dremora attack Marc without me attacking it first. He does love to cast his Chain Lightning spell, so I'd think it would often get hit by that? If you hit his Dremora, then the Dremora hits you, then Marc will hit the Dremora (because it's hitting you), and the Dremora will hit Marc... pretty sure that makes sense??? :lmao: Fun times...

I've played for over a hundred hours with Marcurio having Sanguine's Rose, and haven't had anything I'd think was a problem, but I guess I feel like I deserve it if the Dremora hits me after i hit it. :D The Dremora doesn't seem to last long enough to get us into too much trouble. In my game the Dremora is called 'Marcurio's Dremora Valynaz' (sic).

I've never given Sanquine Rose to a follower. It's mine. MINE! But I have had the issue with the Dremora fighting my followers, but it might be because the follower hits it with friendly fire. I suggest this because it usually happens with followers who use magic or AoE staves. The Dremora seem to turn on followers faster than the player. I can hit my Dremora several times before it becomes hostile, but I think it turns hostiie on followers after far fewer hits. I've been trying to sort it out myself, especially since my not-quite-impressive mage is on "A Night to Remember" right now and will definitely need both the Rose and a follower for the next several levels. But I will try giving it to a follower once I have it this afternoon and see what happens.

I only have to hit Marc's Dremora once for it to become hostile to me.

I think if the player summons the Dremora there is a high chance that it will go hostile on a follower (most of them often accidentally hit it), but if you give it to your follower all you should have to worry about is it becoming hostile when you hit it. If I can avoid hitting the Dremora, then it never seems to go hostile to anyone but the enemies.

It's a possibility I might have hit it once during one of the quest's, but the last Dungeon ( 2nd part of Potema's quest) Is such a big area and we were on opposite sides and ends, that I don't see how I could have hit the Dremora 1st...then follow the circle. That is what is confusing me, sort of, I guess Ole Marc is just hitting the Dremora a few to many times or something.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. I should probably share my favorite toys with my followers more often.

He does love to use Chain Lightning, so he probably does piss it off. :P How long does your Dremora stick around? I think in my game it doesn't stay for very long. It may be getting killed or it just doesn't exist for very long, I guess I don't pay it much attention, and I will have to check on it more. One thing I do love is that Marcurio's AI is so good that he only summons it when it seems to be needed, and I don't often see it unless there are multiple or difficult enemies, although I did see him summon it for a flying dragon once which made me give him a look. :D

hmmm think it's still at it's base of 60 seconds, unfortunately when Marc summon's it we seem to be in a bit of a pickle and I don't pay as much attention to it unless it is in my line of sight. I'm not sure what Marc's cunjuration lvl is or if i is still based off Dalhia's, in which case it probably won't ever get above 60 sec.

Dalhia doesn't have dragon's so that hasn't been a problem, just random vampire attacks ( mostly in the "wilds" so far).

Funny thing happened on the way into Whiterun today... Bandit Chief walked right past Dalhia and Started attacking Marc... This was right infront of Honeybrew Meadery.
