But there are some nagging flaws still that stops it from being my most favorite game of all time. Mainly I have some grudge with the difficulty and save system. I only play on very hard and with almost all hud off (something that should be like that by default imo), but it never feelt really hard because you can just quicksave and quickload if something goes wrong. It was strange because I really realized how much this ruined the game when I played the burgluar mission on the DLC where you have to sneak into the mansion and steal stuff. The tension I feelt, especially when playing on the expert difficulty without the "all seeing eye" and without abilites was miles beyond anything I feelt while sneaking around in the main game. I wished there was a mode like this for the main game.
It totally ruins the whole tension and feeling of being able to save whenever you want. There should be some limit at least, especially on the higher difficulty so maybe you can save once or twice on a mission. Optionally no saves at all. I hope this is something that is taken into consideration on sequels or more DLC.. If you play "optimally" you just quicksave and use the all seeing eye all the time, it ruins so much.
Now someone can just say "don't save then" or "don't use the eye". But that is beside the point, its really not the same if its some artificial "rule" you put on yourself.. I actually did play through the game without being detected and not using any abilities like the eye to get the achievement for that at the same time, but not even that feelt like a real challenge because of the the way the game handles the saving. I really wish more games would think more about this and what makes a game have its tension. Also the consequences is much more feelt when you know you cant just quickload yourself out of a situation if something goes wrong.
