Save your chars appearance

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 7:03 am

Anyone know if it's possible to save your appearance (or grab the 'numbers') of your character.

I have a char that I would like to restart the game with, but I fear I'll be unlikely to replicate his face.

Thanks in advance. :)

There's a character export system. Perhaps it's possible to do it with just the face..? I don't know. Never used it.

Thanks for the reply Paladin...

I've checked the char exporter utility - which states that it can alter your appearance...it achieves this via a batch file...and places showracemenu in the batch file. Bah! ;)

Haven't found a face ex/importer myself which means you'll have to use a more tedious approach: The command spf xxx. It will create a file called xxx.npc in your skyrim root directory which can be opened with notepad.
My character's facefile looks like this (I just copied the most important stuff):

Spoiler
six:F
Race:00013743
Slider0:-0.400000
Slider1:0.300000
Slider2:-0.500000
Slider3:0.000000
Slider4:0.000000
Slider5:-1.000000
Slider6:-0.100000
Slider7:0.000000
Slider8:-0.400000
Slider9:0.200000
Slider10:0.000000
Slider11:0.000000
Slider12:0.300000
Slider13:-0.300000
Slider14:0.000000
Slider15:-1.000000
Slider16:-0.500000
Slider17:0.000000

Preset0:2

Preset2:7
Preset3:16

What they mean:
Spoiler
six: six
Race: Race
Slider0: Nose Length
Slider1: Nose Height
Slider2: Jaw Height
Slider3: Jaw Width
Slider4: Jaw Forward
Slider5: Cheekbone Height
Slider6: Cheekbone Width
Slider7: Eye Height
Slider8: Eye Width
Slider9: Brow Height
Slider10: Brow Width
Slider11: Brow Forward
Slider12: Mouth Height
Slider13: Mouth Forward
Slider14: Chin Width
Slider15: Chin Length
Slider16: Chin Forward
Slider17: Eye Depth

Preset0: Nose Type

Preset2: Eye Shape
Preset3: Mouth Shape

A simple yet effective method is to start from the far left of a slider using WASD keys and counting your key taps. A full move from left to right equals pressing "D" 20 times
Now what to do with those numbers?
Here a small help to transcribe them
For the sliders
0.000 = the slider is in the middle / 10 times D
-0.x = the the slider is x notches to the left /10-x times D Example: -0.3 = 7D
-1.00 = far left /starting point 0 times D
0.x = the slider is x notches to the right /10+x times D Example: 0.3 = 13D
1.00 = far right /20 times D end

The presets already reflect starting from left (Preset 2 means nose number 2, ...)

Other stuff like make-up, hair, warpaint, etc. has to be remembered, though I don't think this is much of a problem.
