Saving the world a little impressive even?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:37 am

I was kind of disappointed when I finished Skyrim and nobody even cared or realized that the world was almost destroyed. Anyone else? Also I was kind of wondering if anyone thinks Bethesda would consider adding in a sort of change to the world after the end of the game?

Yeah, I have to say I'm with you on that one. Immediately after completing the main storyline, I felt like I hadn't really accomplished anything because there was no celebration or anything really.

I know it was kind of like a couple important quest characters had like one line of dialogue (which was usually something like "I think this is far from over") wish they made at least some like generic thank you from non-essential npcs

Only the guards seem to give a damn, heck even Ulfric went back to "who are you, oh you were at Helgen" mode, even though I'd done the peace treaty quest during the main quest...

I get them all the time from guards, plus Bards have a whole new song they sing.

No one in skyrim was ever really well informed about it. Also doubt the average person would think everything is all fine and dandy with dragons landing on their porch and burning down their towns. It is not like the oblivion or morrowind were people could see the impact of your actions. Alduin was just another dragon to them.

Nobody saw and and only a very few people knew what was going on besides the dragons just returning. In fact, I can only think of a handful of people who knew what was truly going on

True I guess I just think the dragonborn (the first since Uriel Septim) would receive a little more attention.

Guards know EVERYTHING. You become a member of TDB, they know. You become a member of Companions guild, they know. You have the Black star? THEY KNOW. If anything, they're all just mind readers who like to know things.

People should be more like guards, it would be nice to get some recognition for my deeds. Whether my ddeds are good or bad, the point of Skyrim is to make a name for the Dragonborn.

My only gripe about guards knowing things is when they backtrack the story line. "Oh you're the

leader of the companions
" then right after they go "Oh you're the new recruit of the companions.

You do get attention and such but for the most part you have not been extremely spectacular. Septiem conquered tamerial, you just killed a dragon that a lot of people don't know about.

Guards have always been all knowing in one way or another. Fear their power.

Fear the magic mind reading guards with no idea of a timeline or sequence of events

Technically I have to agree with the guards. The companion's storyline was ridiculously short, so I can understand why they think that I'm a newbie AND the

well they lost their touch since oblivion.

I think a lot of their mental abilities must emanate from their knees.

It's like how your mind can get fuzzy if you're clonked in the head, they can get their psychic wires crossed if they take an arrow in the.....oh, nevermind.

So that's how it is, huh? (This is why I'm glad I don't go for the main quest at once. Doing that in Oblivion really made me go, 'whelp, so much for that' and set it aside for months.) Saved the world, don't even get a discount on sweet rolls, and, adding lemon juice to the cut, no one gives two figs about the majestic hero. I wonder if this is some sort of meta commentary on Bethesda's part about the achievements of gamers vs. the real world. Or everyone in Skyrim is just that oblivious. (Or, I know, realistic option, it was an oversight.)

I wouldn't want everyone to fawn over me. Maybe just a little recognition from Jarls, Thanes, guards? A big after party? A soopur speshul present? *cough*becoming a jarl in your own right*cough*.

I know we did with the mq, and with mages guild, some would say with the tg. That many times in one game, whos to say reg people aint saving the world also seeing how many damn times it needs saving in skyrim.

Problemly their thinking so what you saved the, my 5yr old daughter did to before her 3rd birthday, u aint nobody special it happens all the time. Heres a sweetroll.

I have to agree with the OP. At least in OB we got a statue.

I do love how guards and people to recognize other things, like killing witches, DB, etc. and the MQ. I don't know. Maybe they are still too busy dogding the dragons that are still flying around.
