Scars that tell a story!

Post » Mon May 27, 2013 12:27 pm

Just had an interesting idea!

What if there was no option to put scars on your character at character creation? Instead you character would slowly get scars in combat.

However, the twist would be that if your character dies and has to be resurrected, all of the scars vanish!

Then your scars become a mark of your skill. The more scars you have, the longer it has been since you have last been killed.

EDIT: Might want to add an alchemist potion to remove your scars for aesthetic reasons if desired.

What do you guys think?

Does anyone know of anywhere this has been done before?

This was done in one of the Fable games. It was cool, but can get annoying.

Nice idea. The main problem here is that it would mean they would have to bury the concept of choosing it by yourself. And a LOT of people would hate that.
So although it is a nice idea, they won't put it in and loose the the classical concept... unfortunately one choice is alway a choice AGAINST something else.

Besides: I don't have the feeling they will really put in new stuff that close to release (No, less then a year is not much) anyway. They will sharpen what they have
and propably aren't reading the forums for new ideas that late (if they do that anyway).
That is not meant to discourage people, just to not expect too much.

I say meh, I don't like the idea of having a hideously scarred character.

Your right http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/929075-fable-the-lost-chapters/40234471

And I see what you mean. Perhaps there should be an alchemist potion to remove scars for those of us who are too proud to get rid of them by dieing?

Meh,

So if i survive the game for 3 years getting scars, in the end i would have no skin and be bloody all over?

Well i never like to many scars on my toon, but if it goes away when healed or whatever it is a good idea. But there should be a limit on howmany scars you can get.

If you survive continuously for 3 years thats really impressive. Especially if you ever do any PvP. But yes, I guess you right there should be an upper limit, maybe 4 on the face and a further 4 on the body?

Not really into scars.

I would much rather see worn armor in certain stages. Like at 70% -- 40% -- 20% . It would give good leads for your nemesi to see which parts to attack more relentlessly to degrade your defenses.

Also mind that ESO is probably going to go for a less mature audience compared to SP TES, this could up the ratings quite a bit. I already expect subsettings for gore and violence.

Well, that would be a good idea. It could also be optional like the darkside in swtor. My character there became pale grey with red glowing eyes. It looked not good, but i had the option to turn it off.

The idea of scars is great when introduced correctly. 4 scares per bodypart, optional, removable on death/healer are all good points.

Well there's an argument to be made against CHOOSING scars for sure. Scars are never something you choose to have, they just happen to you. I also never like the idea of having them be something to choose at character creation, since it usually means everyone will end up with the same "scar-across-the-eye" cuz it's so bad-to-the-bone.

That being said, I like the idea ONLY if you can get them removed by an NPC healer for a very small fee.
