Screenshot request - Med / High / Ultra

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:04 am

First off - thanks to all those who have posted PC screens thus far - greatly appreciated by hundreds here, despite the petty and immature flame wars that resulted. You are truly lucky to be litterally 'ahead' of the rest of the world lol.

I'm wondering if anyone with the PC version would be willing to take a few Med vs. High screens? Some of us are limited to Medium-ish settings and I'd love to see the difference. Yes I know only a day away now at worst, but the suspense is killing me :)

Yeah, I'd like to see this as well, like 3 pics at the same environment with different graphics.

Google that pretty much since its not technically release for consoles yet I do not think we can post such.

I have found a few on Ultra,

Thanks man. What I'm hoping for is someone uses a stationary spot in the game and loads up a few different detail levels so we can really compare the differences.

So... shameless bump.

Honestly? Looks a bit like a HD Oblivion.

So, do these people have terrible brightness/contrast settings or is the game actually that bright and washed out. I think it looks ok other than that ... going to have to turn down the gamma in the game tho maybe. (edit maybe it's too much bloom)

I've always thought the game did look a little too washed out, but if PC players are really unhappy with it after turning down the gamma, we can just mess with the color settings in the graphics card's drivers.

Yup. :)
Thought I'd add, too, that I didn't mean to sound negative about pic quality of the shots...they do look great...I just have picky eyes re:color/contrast. I do photography & I can nitpick over things most don't care about. I've tried to "get over" it some but I can still chafe over it a little. "laugh:

There we go. I knew someone would come through. THANK YOU so much dude :)

One thing I noticed - it looks like the fog/steam in that shot doesn't appear until the High settings (notice the fog just above the bridge in the center of the screen). Is this the case? Does the fog rolling through the mountains, etc. only show up in high+? I hope not...

So from what I'm seeing the major difference between high and ultra is the draw distance for shadows.

Thanks! Low doesn't look that bad, and there are only minor differences between High and Ultra. I only noticed some more distant shadows and foliage. Stunning game, really, thanks for the pics!

There are other differences, like textures seem a little more low res on low/med (maybe just me), and some detail is lost in low for sure - check out the ropes on the dock/bridge posts. In low detail they're gone completely.

Honestly though Low doesn't look too bad. Low in OB looked like utter rubbish.

You're welcome.

Yes, fog only on High or Ultra.
Same thing for those ropes on the bridge.

Am I crazy or does the moon screen look like the moon has a face on it?

Hmm strange since it looked like Consoles have lots of fog and according to Bethesda is the equivalent of PC low/med. Oh well.

Oh and if you feel up to posting more, go for it ;)

Thanks for the comparison shots.

My eyes/screen see quite a bit of difference in the ground texture clarity from the low to ultra pics. I's not that they're super-different, if that makes sense but they're nowhere near as blurred. Like a camera lens that's better focused. Even up close under the chrs. feet, which is not exactly distant "draw distance." ;) Water looks about the same.

What is the max in-game AA/AF settings? Or does it just say "Ultra"...
