Screenshots and volume raising

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 8:22 pm

I'm still waiting my pre-ordered copy over the weekend, but I'm curious to know if printscreen and volume raising/lowering buttons are working in Skyrim? It was quite a annoying on previous TES that when the game was running it didn't notice the laptop's "fn" button which is necessary to use printscreen and volume-changing buttons. I read on somewhere you can take screenshots on Skyrim so is it working right in the game?

Not sure about volume, but the Print Screen button takes a screenshot and dumps a .bmp into the root folder of the Skyrim installation.

Steam functionality allows for the f-12 key to take screenshots that will be saved to the Steam Cloud, printscreen screenshots will be saved to the Skyrim directory in which case a simple ini tweak may be required (usually represented by ballowScreenShots = 0 in the Skrim.ini) . From my experience the only way to change the volume settings for the game is through the in game settings as opposed to changing the whole computers volume settings.

So the f-12 makes it possible to take screenshots even if the game doesn't allow to use "fn"-button. That's good to hear. I'm still wondering if Skyrim allows you to hold down the fn-button to use those buttons which are hidden under another. As I said previous TES-games didn't allow it, but all other games I have played it worked normally as it should be.
