Hi there

I'm an old (ancient ...

) player of Morrowind (and a bit of Oblivion). Recently, someone gifted me Skyrim, so I can now play it despite my "Steam won't get my money" policy. Since I love mods (I have 400+ mods attached to my current Morrowind savegame, and I have about 40 GB of mods in my archive), I would like to install some mods for Skyrim as well. Usually I find my way around on my own; however, with Skyrim, I have to admit I'm a bit confused by the number of apparently competing options.
I am seeing several mod managers and engine extenders: Nexus mod manager, Bash, BOSS, Steam Workshop, Script Dragon, Script Extender ... and while I'm not afraid of spending a few hours getting acquainted with those, I am not sure where to start.
So, here's my current situation and my plan for the future:
- I have Skyrim, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire, and will probably be getting future official DLC as well.
- I am looking for a clean way (or as clean as possible) to install a large (and most probably growing) number of mods
- If you know some mods that you want to recommend, feel free.

I've looked for mod lists (such as Telespohoros' legendary list of Morrowind mods), but haven't really found an exhaustive one so far. I did find a list at PCGamer, and one from Arwen which I'll certainly check (great to see she's still around!), but I'm kind of looking for something larger. Any ideas where I can find that? I actually expected to find a forum sticky with a list of popular mods, but there doesn't seem to be one?
Anyway. Sorry for the long-winded post. If I missed a FAQ that's posted somewhere and that answers my questions, please post it, and I'll go there and lower my head in shame.
