A second Dragonborn?

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:43 am

Who could the Dragonborn in the trailer possibly be? I think it might be an aspect of Talos
Spoiler
like Wulf in Morrowind

Edit: Yea I forgot that he was once a Dragon Priest so I'd assume he was the highest ranking member or founder of the Cult and maybe served as an important prophet to Alduin before betraying them?

No. This Dragonborn is the first and predates Tiber Septim by a rather significant amount of time.

Talos wasn't the first Dragonborn, so it can't possibly be him.

Wasn't Alessia the first person to have been bestowed that gift by Akatosh. In regards to the trailer it said "you didn't think you were the only one, he was the first" I think it could imply that he just came before you and became popular before you did.

Nope. He was a Dragon Priest and that stuff predates Alessia IIRC.

I thought she was just given the Amulet of Kings.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Akatoshhttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Akatosh made a covenant with http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Alessia in those days so long ago. He gathered the tangled skeins of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Oblivion, and knit them fast with the bloody sinews of his Heart, and gave them to Alessia, saying, 'This shall be my token to you, that so long as your blood and oath hold true, yet so shall my blood and oath be true to you. This token shall be the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Amulet_of_Kings, and the Covenant shall be made between us, for I am the King of Spirits, and you are the Queen of Mortals. As you shall stand witness for all Mortal Flesh, so shall I stand witness for all Immortal Spirits.'
And Akatosh drew from his briast a burning handful of his Heart's blood, and he gave it into Alessia's hand, saying, 'This shall also be a token to you of our joined blood and pledged faith. So long as you and your descendants shall wear the Amulet of Kings, then shall this dragonfire burn -- an eternal flame -- as a sign to all men and gods of our faithfulness. So long as the dragonfires shall burn, to you, and to all generations, I swear that my Heart's blood shall hold fast the Gates of Oblivion.
So long as the Blood of the Dragon runs strong in her rulers, the glory of the Empire shall extend in unbroken years. But should the dragonfires fail, and should no heir of our joined blood wear the Amulet of Kings, then shall the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Empire descend into darkness, and the Demon Lords of Misrule shall govern the land.'
-- from the liturgy of the Re-Kindling of the Dragonfires"

Wait, that guy?

Was he in some coma that bound your ? destiny together and..... MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if I'm correct he is like corrupt and stuff. I wondered why he wasn't in sovengarde.
We will either have to purge him or turn him to righteousness.

Can't wait either way...

I don't want another Big Bad to fight OR redeem (yawn). I want another complex antaganist, one with whom it's possible to form an alliance, depending on how the plot unfolds. However, I doubt we'll get that.

Judging from the way he is portrayed we would very likely have to kill him and no doubt he is evil considering he was once a dragon Priest.

Alessia was the first known Dragonborn. There could have been others before her, but they weren't recorded in history. Now we know this is the case and the first Dragonborn was a yet unnamed Dragon Priest.

My speculation is that he joined the dragon cult and was originally more benevolent a ruler than the other dragon priests. Akatosh hence chose him and took pity on the mortals subjected by the dovah and gave him the power to devour dragon souls. Since he's Dragonborn- he must have rebelled at or even caused the Dragon War. The rest is likely the corrupted by power excuse - or if they want to be a tad more original - in taking the domineering Dragon's souls into him - he became as vengeful and twisted as they were.

But of course, I could be wrong

Perhaps not evil... but being Dragonborn, he, like you, will have the soul of a dragon and therefore the urge to conquer and dominate.

According to the trailer, "HE" was once one of the Dragon Priests, and showed the alter of the 8 Dragon Priests where the masks go. In Skyrim, there is a quest that if you collect all 8 masks, you get a 9th one from the dragons mouth. This is "HE" the 9th one. HE is also the first Dragonborn plus he is a Dragon Priest. Dangerous combination.

It would be cool if female Dragonborn characters could marry him if he is good :hugs:

The mask in the trailer looks nothing like the 9th mask. It'd be an interesting theory though - the sum of every mask amounts to the power of a dragon.

Considering that everything we know about lore comes from NPCs or books written by NPCs, pretty much everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. Just because a source names a particular individual as the first dragonborn doesn't make is so, the source's information could be wrong. The NPC in the trailer is just that, an NPC. He's not omniscient. Misinformation abounds in our world, why should Tamriel be any different?

There are nine holds, one dragon priest to rule over each. This guy had dominion over Solstheim though.

Its possible I guess but unlikely (IMO).

He better actually provide some difficultly. If he is as easy to defeat as Alduin or Harkon I would feel disappointed that all the lore behind him is basically hype.

That is what I thought. You have to kill 8 dragon priests to get the 8 masks. Once placed on the proper alter figure, you get a 9th mask. The 9th mask belongs to a dragon priest, but you do not really know the name of the dragon priest, only the name of the mask, plus the 9th mask is the only mask you get without having to kill a dragon priest to get it. So in theory, there were 9 dragon priests, and you killed 8 of them. What and where is the 9th one??

Lol. "Hello, love. What would you like for breakfast today?" - all while breathing fire and slaying dragons, not to mention being an undead over 2000 years old (or however old he is. I don't feel like doing the math right now).

Sorry, I just don't see it :P
