Second Patch In The Works?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:46 pm

It's been awhile since we heard any news about a second patch in the works ---> http://exophase.com/31922/rage-pc-getting-second-patch-will-alleviate-blurry-textures-add-texture-detail-options/ I surely hope we get a proper fix because I'm reluctant to play Rage with the issues at hand..I can tweak the cfg to make the game run almost a true PC game but the mouse in-game menu sensitivity is extremely high with no fix to adjust it. We all know the problems Rage has been giving us but I do have faith in id Software to correct the issues with the next upcoming patch.

You have no evidence of that.

If you check the other threads on this people are guessing id is waiting for the AMD 11.12 drivers before releasing the next patch. Can't say I blame them with all the driver issues they've had.

Lets just hope 11.12 does it or we'll have to wait till a good driver is released by AMD. :(

I can accept the occasional serious driver issue and waiting a month or two, but this is the IT business where time is money and stuff depreciates by the hour. Either they get it together soon or its time to switch to Nvidia and recommend people avoid AMD.

I pretty much have all Nvidia cards for gaming & folding@home so I'm good. I do hope id will put back a few things they disabled with the first patch.
Also be nice if they would add sli support, not that its really needed, but would be nice to have since I have a couple 2x & 3x card setups.
I'd like to see how the game would run with the tri GTX260 I have in a 980x setup I have or the 2xGTX480 2600k rig with sli enabled.

Yeah, it would be nice to enable crossfire for my 2 5850s just so I don't have to disable it for the game. I'm sure they'll give us back the full functionality of the game with the patch and some people will mod it to run at 200 fps on their crossfire setups. It might be fun to play around with, but I'm more interested at this point just in seeing Rage move forward. A patch, a DLC, some mods, anything to give the game a little something extra before it can possibly die a premature death.

Carmack statement from November 17th:

@Mathemoto we are still waiting for AMD to stabilize their release drivers so we can test our patch against them.

A few days ago they (id) announced that news regarding the Patch and Mod-Tools are coming soon.
Also AMD's new 11.12 driver release is the first to support OpenGL 4.2, so this might be a big step forward.

... and the game is in perfect condition, AMD has to sort out their drivers

Great news. I just installed 12.1 preview yesterday and so far its awesome. It enabled my crossfire setup and reduced pop-in textures to almost nonexistent. Can't wait for the patch.
