I see your Woolly Mammoth and raise you a Woolly Rhino!

Aw, I loved them in Avatar! Didn't look anywhere near as ridiculous as those eyeless Tyranosaurus heads with legs in Morrowind. And doesn't need to be too obvious. Something like the Komodo Rhino sounds totally plausible in reality, let alone fantasy.

IDK what your referring to. :P

I wouldn't mind seeing a bunch of little momo's flying around though, momo is cute.

It's a rhinoceros mixed with a komodo dragon, but it's horns are actually from a rhinoceros beetle.

See my top post on this page for more random examples. Some look a bit silly, like the platypus bear, but there are plenty that would work well.

according to http://books.google.com/books?id=_6WBlUwYPa8C&pg=PA88&lpg=PA88&dq=mammoth+vegetation+stomach&source=bl&ots=vbDkKLYQyd&sig=EcVXY-QZr3Y20Fkvb4jJwQBpj9g&hl=en&ei=W-tTTYv7CtLzceymzecI&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=mammoth%20vegetation%20stomach&f=false, and it makes sense, mammoths "did not live in a habitat dominated by ice and snow", (they'd need a lot of vegetation for their size). it just seems that they did because of all that wool. so just slap on wool to other awe-inspiring creatures and add them to Skyrim. maybe even get them from previous TES games. woolly kagoutis, wooly alit, and my favorite: the wooly guar :D

But they had the wool so that they could thrive when snow was the only option because of the Ice Ages.

Not too over the top please. I liked Oblivion's realistic landscapes.

In Skyrim forests there needs to be like a hundred elk, deer, boar and wolf for each mammoth and saber tooth tiger.

Getting back to the topic of woolly rhinos... I think they'd make a great addition to Skyrim's bestiary. Sure original creatures are nice, but I'll take bears, wolves, and inspired from extinct real world animals any day over the wildlife in Morrowind (kagoutis, alits, nix-hounds, and kwama). We already know mammoths and sabre-toothed cats are in so why not stick with an ice age inspired creature line up. One thing's for sure though, there needs to be more wildlife then was found in any previous elder scrolls game. It's hard to stay interested in exploring the wilderness when there's only half a dozen animal species to encounter.

Morrowind was [NUMINIT] weird. Oblivion had a better landscape/wildlife. Really, I don't think anyone expects all or even a quarter of the animals we're talking about here to actually show up in the game, but if Bethesda can draw inspiration from them, why not? Nature did a pretty great job creating these animals (or God, if you believe. I do).

Morrowind was wierd, but it was original and had class, nothing beats an original fantasy setting. The environment and creatures showed creativity and added a unique atmosphere to the game. Oblivion could not match the variety of Morrowind and had a bland high fantasy setting, i mean arn't you sick of it!!

I hope they do take inspiration form these wierd beasties, as they are what has formed naturally through evolution and nothing can beat that originality.

And again Awesome gorilla horse!!! -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalicothere

I'll see your woolly mammoth and rhino and raise you a giant chameleon centipede with tiger claws for feet, wings of a bat, and face of a baboon that breathes lightning, climbs trees and flies at night...

I see your dragon and raise you a mudcrab.

I was thinking of this http://social.bioware.com/uploads_user/1880000/1879525/42692.jpg and accidentally mixing it up with a Guar. Guars had the Tyranosaurus heads, this is something more like a crocodile.

Didn't know that, but, hey, it's fun enough discussing the religion in TES!

We definitely NEED woolly rhinos.

I already mentioned them my first, very very long http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157714-official-ideas-suggestions-thread-4/page__p__16964408__fromsearch__1#entry16964408 on these forums.

I would also LOVE to see bobcats, narwhals and eurypterids (prehistoric sea scorpions). And plenty of little creatures, birds and bugs.

I tend to think that immense diversity in wildlife would give a strong feeling that the world you're walking in is living.

I would say those would be more tropical, so in the seas off the coast of the Summerset Isles. But hey, anything to liven up the waters in the game. Just make a woolly variant and everything will be all right.

Electric slaughterfishes would be great. A Nord called Briring mentioned them in Morrowind, if I remember well...

Yes, and snow variants of creatures that doesn't belong to cold climate. Snow lions, tigers and leopards, or snow hyenas, for example.

(But I don't think a woolly slaughterfish would be very believable... )
