It seems no one likes Redguards?

And Cyrodiil used to be a jungle, especially in the east, with those easterners using garish tattoos and dress. It's not "Medieval Europe", taking much influence from Far Eastern (after Akavir influenced them) and Mesoamerican cultures.

Even the Nords have beliefs inspired by Hindu beliefs. A South Eastern religion. Most importantly, the kalpa cycles.

Tamriel isn't Medieval, either. Most of their technology seems rather Renaissance era.

In fact, the Bretons feel out of place now.

They have the best one on one swordsmen. Altmer have the best navy.

That said, Redguards are one of my favorite races in TES.

I'm pretty sure it's the Redguards with the best navy, since they had a whole ton of boats that they used to relocate their entire race...

Edit: Well it says this at least.. "he Redguards are also known for their naval prowess, and their fleets have proved a match for the Empire's best armadas, as seen during the Stros M'kai revolt."

I don't like Redguard because they are too combat oriented and they can't read.

When I started playing 3rd D&D I was hard pressed to find any illustrations of black characters and one of my friends simple said that "...well a lot of black people don't play d&d so...." or something to that effect. So I guess that most people who play TES aren't black so they see redguards as the affirmative action race. I'm not tring to be racist but when people make fun of the various race of TES when it comes to redguards the jokes seem to be veiled black jokes to me. I'm black so anytime I played a human character in d&d I made sure he was black but in TES I've only played wood elves because their bonuses fit my play style.

To the OP's comment about Dunmer I think people just like the idea of playing a dark elf because it sounds cool. I also predict that after Nord barbarians whose names rhyme with Nonan the most popular character type in skyrim will be Dunmer duel-weilding rangers whose names rhyme with Grits

I almost always play a redguard first play through because adrenaline rush is pretty much an IWIN button.

Atom bomb swords. What's not to like?

I love Redguards and their lore, though I haven't played one since Morrowind. They didn't look proper in Oblivion, but it looks like Skyrim is bringing back the awesome.

"However, they could not stand against the forces of Tiber Septim and the Numidium, which crushed the Dominion and finally brought the Summerset Isle into the Imperial fold in 2E 896. Then, in the War of the Isle of 3E 110, the Maormer were on the brink of finally taking Summerset, and the Altmer had to accept assistance from the Empire to survive.[ The Altmer remember these incidents with shame and horror, and they have likely contributed to recent social unrest amongst their youth."

I've always been a little curious about this, thanks for making this thread.

Personally, I think male Redguards are badass but I always play female characters and I want them to look aesthetically pleasing. I feel bad confronting myself with the fact but, I don't find Redguard females so attractive, and in real life I can find women of African descent attractive, but not as often as I find caucasian and oriental women attractive.

If there was an Asian-looking race in TES though, I would be all over it, and that certainly does have to do with my being half Asian.

I like the Redguards and probably pick one for my play through, why you ask? Because i can then i pick a Nord..why? Because i can lol

The only race i don't have really need to play is Imperials, just nothing there for me but do get why people play them.

You may praise your redguards all you want, but I won't let you dismiss / say Imperials have the least interest lore.

I normally avoid playing human races in general. I stick mostly to Dunmer, sometimes Bosmer. All the human races, with maybe the exception of Nords, are pretty drab. I don't play Nords because my characters usually mix a lot of magic with their melee. Same with Orcs.

theyre only good at rushing in recklessly and chopping things up which i despise to no end as doing that is asking to get killed. and as if that wasnt enough as a race they have no honor same goes for the bretons both of which joined forces and sacked orsinium for no reason after many years of peace between the three nations.

I don't play as Redguards simply for one of two reasons,

1) I prefer the Breton race for humans - I like their background, style, and strength in magic/combat.

2) If not playing as Breton, I'm usually one of the mer races (usually Dunmer).

Never liked their culture in the lore, really. I don't like beast races, either. Always preferred Nords and Dunmer.

Redguards are a fictional race, yet some can't see past their skin color and resemblance to a real ethnic group. When some are behind a keyboard, they let their bias show against the ethnic group in question falsely attributing them to the TES race.

However, I haven't seen much of that on this thread, which leaves me a little astonished.

I dunno. I like Redguards because of their natural affinity to the warrior class.

I have nothing against the Red Guards, but I didn't like their voice acting on Oblivion (I didn't like the actors voice and there really was too much Yankee-accent for me). I'm not playing with Red Guards usually because I don't feel they fit for me well. It's easier to choose Nord which fits better in the ways I want to see myself in these epic games (I don't know if there's any connection with it, but I'm from Scandinavia). Main reason why I like to play as Nord is that they are closest TES-race to my favorite fantasy-race, Dwarfs. One reason also why I have played only twice with a Red Guard character is they have very ugly and unnatural hairstyles. But Orcs and Bretons are also in the same boat with Red Guards in my eyes and Argonians and Khajiits are on even worse position. Anyway when I saw the face-styles of Skyrim they were looking so nice I can play Skyrim with any race.

I like playing Argonians and Khajit because they fit the type of character I like to play. (Theif and assassin)

Whats with everyone only using races based on what classes they are gonna be? Seriously? The attributes are GONE! meaning that, you can now play how you want, when ever you want with no strings attached. Wanna be a redguard mage, its done! Wanna be a nord theif, Get to it! its that simple. STOP THINKING OLD SCHOOL PEOPLE!!!! you are just ruining the replay value for your self.
