Which one do you prefer?

Personally, I find the bots WAY more useful than the turrets in most cases. The only time I ever use turrets is when I want to set up 3 or 4 sentries at once (which really only happened twice the whole game.)

Bots. Stationary turrets didn't help as much because I never put them in the best spot.
