Serena's "Wait" bug found but not fixed!

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:32 am

There is a bug with Serena when you tell her to "wait" and then try to get her to "follow" you again the option to follow is not there! She just stays in one place untill you tell her to leave, at that point she starts to leave but you cant get her to follow you again ever!

I do know the place where the bug starts however. It starts when you try to go back to the soul carin after completing the dawnguards questine ( reguardless if you have her with you or not) to tell her mother that we won and to use the soul carin. The moment you enter the castle (on the other side, the one that leads to the soul carin) is when the bug takes hold of her and you cant tell her to wait and then follow again!

Beathesda, please fix this!

When I tell her to stay she immediately takes off. I'm not sure if this is related to your bug, but its very annoying.

I can confirm this. It was nice having her for a follower while it lasted. She had great dialogue and commentary on her surroundings, but now she's like any other NPC who won't follow you, and the only dialogue is asking her to "blood some of your arrows."

I'd like to add to this. Can you confirm that her carry weight is extremely high, as in, higher than it should be? Because I returned to my former follower (Jenassa from Whiterun) after Serana's meltdown only to discover that her carry weight is a lot less than before.

Vampire Serana I had loaded with 5 staffs, 6 dragon scales, 3 or 4 dragon bones, a couple of greatswords, scaled armor suit helm and guantlets, vampire armor, an ebony bow... That should be overburdening, right?

Jenassa now... A suit of light armor, a dagger, an ebony sword, a bow and after that room for maybe 30 pounds more. What the heck? I know her carry weight has been reduced a lot... by Serana or some aspect of Dawnguard. I don't know how.

I too have noticed that she can carry alot.

I have talked to a friend of mine and he said that he can still tell Serena to follow him even after going into the vampire castle's back door. However, he would always fast travel to the balcony. In my game I did not go into the balcony during the first time there so when I have to go back to the soul carin I have to go the long way and then to the balcony to activate it.

It seems that If you go the long way in the back part of the castle she will not be able to follow you ever again!

While I did go to the balcony the first time, I also returned with Serana the back way since I wanted to check out the weapon racks and see if anything changed after the Dawnguard quest was finished. The locked doors prevented you getting there from the Balcony. Serana followed just fine. I dismissed her later, she still follows when ever asked.

I had the bug where asking Serana to wait ended up with her waiting for ever, Serana never returned to the Soul Cairn, neither had my character gone back to the Soul Cairn at that point. It is more likely just certain locations where the command to follow is missing. You should never tell Serana to wait without saving first, since in some locations she will not leave either.

And how on earth would people think the bug would have been fixed? When was there ever a patch for Dawnguard? There have been no patches released since the DLC.

The bug does NOT happen if you have already activated the location on the balcony on your first visit. I did not however on my first visit.

The game thinks that I have not been there yet (because of balcony location not reveled) and Gargoyles SEEM to bust out of strone that Ive aready killed, yet there is no gargoyle there when the rocks/stones brake(all I see is stones braking apart and then I hear a roaring of a gargoyle but no gargoyle is there). It also reactivates the torches along the way as if this is my first time through here.

No one is saying that it is fixed we are just stating that the problem of the bug was located and not to be confused with fixed!

I think, and this is just my inexperienced opinion, that Serana's scripting bugs may hve something to do with her "Idle Animations" (as in when you've been standing around she'll go do something near by like use an alchemy table, sit down, use the work bench, and what-not.) Maybe some type of scripting confliction?

I noticed this bug as well but in addition, after I tell her to wait and can't get her to follow me again, I cant dismiss her either, I tell her " I think its time for us to part ways" and she says " I disagree."
