Sergius Turrianus, the enchanting trainer at the College of Winterhold, gives the player a quest to bring him 7 common soul gems, but it doesn't appear in the quest log. If you bring him 7 common soul gems anyway, a dialogue option appears to give them to him. He thanks you as if you're completing the quest, but the gems aren't removed from your inventory and you're not given a reward.
