seta jobs_numthreads

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 8:18 am

I have 1 GPU and 1 CPU

ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1gb Gddr5
and
Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 660 3.6Ghz (single core? its not core 2 duo)

There is options for affinity 0 and 1 on some of my programs. ?

What do I set this to: seta jobs_numthreads 1 ? 2 ? definitely not above.

also what do you set: +mem_phymemblocksizem its megabytes. of what? ram? vram? HDD? i've seen people with values of 512, 8192 and 3072. I think i tried 3072 once and it crashed my game. its not currently in my rageconfig.cfg

How can you even run the game with a single core ? I don't think you can.

of course you can. I can play Crysis 2, Crysis, and all the other games out there,

First of all this "game" tries to use 100% cpu and USES 0% GPU. Total programming oversight? The game also uses 40% of my 2gb ram..... uh...... hello? There's 60% ram to be used, and a whole video card!

i saw a guy on similar setup as mine, with only difference he ran core 2 duo, his game played as smooth as a console game but with PC graphics!

Yet other people with i7 cores can experience the same stutter/lag/freezing/lockup that makes the game unplayable. How many times must it be described? You can move for a few seconds, then the game locks up for 3-20 seconds.......... thats NOT RIGHT. Don't you think?

Thats the CPU trying to run the game. You need atleast a Dual Core , Trust me. the GPU is way better then the CPU and It"s Bottlenecked. If your on Windows 7 look at the windows Experience Index and you'll see what I mean. You want those numbers in the index to match pretty close.. if you have a 1.3 CPU score and a 5.8 GPU you'll see that the system is bottlenecked. Hope that helps

blabla

WTF ? You have a HD 5770 and a Pentium 4 ?

That's so useless... ! Your GPU is so CPU-limited...
Seriously, change your CPU !

Minimum Requirments (http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/09/06/rage-system-requirements/):

Minimum:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 2GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200

Recommended:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 4GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550

There is some http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&safe=off&source=hp&q=core+2+duo+vs+pentium+4&pbx=1&oq=core+2+duo+vs+pentium+4&aq=f&aqi=g2g-v2&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1114l6319l0l6631l23l14l0l8l8l1l254l2728l0.6.8l22l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=b28c86c0469d20f3&biw=1920&bih=1017 in your future. Basically, your "3.6Ghz Pentium 4" is about equivalent to a "1.7Ghz Core 2 Solo" which is still only single core, not the minimum of dual core. The reason for the different speed comparisons is because Pentiums 4's do not do much "work" per clock cycle while "Core 2 Duo" and above do a lot more "work" per cycle.

You will never get RAGE to run well on that machine. Maybe 640x480 would be barely playable as this game is CPU bound but that's about it.

Although I don't think the OP will be able to run the game on a Pentium 4, I am also very interested to know what the following settings are used for.

+jobs_numthreads 4
+mem_phymemblocksizem 3072

I have a quad core i7 mobile CPU (i7-820QM) and 16GB DDR3 RAM. should I set the phymemblocksizem to 8192?
how about the numthreads setting?

I don't know what they mean either, but, I do know that the current RAGE executable is 32 bit and it has the large address aware flag set in the executable. This means that RAGE on a 64 bit operating system can use up to 4GB of memory. So, for ALL the caches and stuff combined it shouldn't go over that total of 4GB. And the total should never be more than (Memory of machine) - 1GB. Once the 64 bit executable is released then your memory is the limit: you have 16GB to play with then.

well if he can play crysis 2 on 1 core kinda seems odd but hey.i had a test with my friend back when Brink was out on a crapy labtop with 2.1 ghz 1 core OBGFXs kinda run well but i will pull it out and test it with this rage update and see if it makes it better
