Shadow casting lights quit working in CK

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 4:16 am

Not sure if this is a problem with the CK or if I did something wrong. I have been adding shadow casting lights (candle, sky, etc.) to my interior cell and they quit working today. They worked for several days, but now the light bulbs appear as all red instead of the normal white with pink cross. The lighting itself is also gone. I have closed/opened my mod several times. All non-shadow lights are still working fine. Anyone else encountered this? I have not tested my mod in-game to see if they work there.
Thanks.

If you have too many shadow-casting lights (I think more than 4) visible at once, some of them end up turning off. So you need to use shadow-casting lights a little sparingly.

I'll double check that, but I made sure I have no more that 4 visible in any one area. It was working fine for several days with no problems. I do have a large number of them, but there are many rooms and only a couple of lights in each room. I'll also try and add my portals and room bounds and see it that helps. Thanks

the room/portals should probably help because even though some things in-game may not be visible to you, the engine is still rendering stuff that is behind walls etc. without the help of rooms set up

Right click on the render window, and hit Render Window Properties. Go to the shaders tab, and make sure "Shadows" are enabled.

It may even be 4 in the same cell at all. Try deleting all but 4 to see if they function, so we can at least see if that's the problem or not.

Well, it seems I have a CK problem. I deleted all the shadow casting lights from my cell, closed the CK and then tried to place a single shadow casting light. It displays no light at all and is a bright red bulb with a red cross inside when I turn my havok on. I did notice a warning I didn't recognize before when I booted up my mod, though. "HAVOK: File contains a phantom with mesh shape collision. Please remove shape or convert to primitive".....whatever that means is beyond me.

That was it! How did that get unchecked? I had it checked before and for some reason it got unchecked! Thanks much!

Ahah, it seems to like to uncheck itself from time to time. Drove me insane trying to figure out what the issue was before now
