I've seen similar articles about so called "Shame Sentencing" where people are humiliated like the village idiot. Does shame sentencing actually work or is it a waste of time?

Kind of on the fence about this issue since it doesn't seem to work at times, while on the other hand it maybe the most effective punishment.

Public humiliation has no place in modern society, or anywhere for that matter. It's a stupid form for punishment, and I strongly doubt it has any beneficial effects on the person. Regardless of what criminal act that has been performed, no one should have to go through this kind of punishment. We might as well put a pillory on the street if we're going to be doing this, it's not that much different. Very progressive.

Well, that's what we're all thinking of her anyway And i'm sure she won't be doing that again.

But i'm not so sure about the long term effects of such punishment, it could have some unintended side effects. Still, i'm thinking it's propably more effective than a fine.

I'm okay with people being punished for stuff. Obviously she did something dumb but I don't think shame sentencing is a good thing. It only distances someone from their local community and has them labelled in a certain way. She may be an idiot but I don't see how that solves anything.

Effective? Probably not. Funny? Definetly.
