"Share this post and an Angel will find you"

Post » Sun Sep 15, 2013 2:14 am

Why do people on facebook fall for these things??

Madness, does anybody know how these came about?

Also, as a Doctor Who fan I freak out at the concept of liking a post which says "Like this post and the angels will come for you". :bonk:

Because people are idiots? Same with the chain email nonsense of "send this to 10 friends and your true love with meet you tonight".

Angels have better things to do than stalk berks to share things on social media.

I can't believe some people believe that [censored] too. I guess it somehow gives them some kind of false hope, or makes them feel better.

It's chain mail, it has been around since people could send messages anonymously.

It doesn't say if it's the good kind or the terrifying kind, does it?

I'd rather take my chances and opt out then.

Curiously enough I just made the same comment elsewhere today. As much as I might love the people in question, it seems that they do fall for every hoax and chain-letter going; they've always been like that, but the likes of Facebook just makes it much more visible.

Because people are gullible and would give someone their bank details if they said they could make them immortal.

You mean that email from the President of Zimbabwe offering me the elixer of life in return for a small $5 transaction accompanied by my bank and credit card details was a lie?

But it said I was chosen because I was trustworthy!

At least Facebook allows me to deter that dross on my feed. I have one of my cousins and a friend's statuses blocked because they share more pictures in a day than rational people do. I'll share, on average maybe 1-2 pics in a week, maybe 2, but 10 pics minimum in a day? Come on. :stare:

My FaceBook is relatively clean (little friends, few of them picture happy), but the second I see my sister posting fifty pictures of her stupid dog, or get a ton of updates about stuff I don't care and the source is a person in my friend list, and I'm done. No, I would just unfriend the culprit or something.

I actually use FaceBook as my messaging system, seeing as I can't (No, choose not to) use a texting program on my iPod. I like having conversations with friends over the Internet. Less awkward and I won't be interrupted fifteen times before I can actually finish my sentence.

Someone sent me a chain letter about Facebook shutting down. I researched the matter and told them that they sent a chain letter. Also told them that Facebook shutting down when it is so profitable is highly unlikely. I was way too correct on that one.

Why ?

I don't know why. Probably the same feeling that having a post or picture "liked", the idea of being seen ? You see the post popping again and you've got a nice warm feeling having started something ?

Serves you right for using facebook anyway. I'm just saying.
