i was wondering what you think about trying to run a char using Heavy armor, and Sheild with a Staff in the other hand, think it would be to much of a pain due to maybe. not enough dmg, Charge problems, and even just finding staves?

That's the setup my Warrior uses for ranged attacks.. The damage the staves do is rather limited... but then again bein a warrior is all about up close and person combat, so it serves me well enough to do some ranged damage.
Charges isnt much of a problem, as long as you have some way to charge your soul gems (in my case: a sword with soultrap)
Finding staves isnt a problem, most mages sell them at the holds and at winterhold college.

level up your destruction for beefy staff charges.
